Single AA light with only low and high and no memory

Thanks for the quick reply. I've just been looking at this light and I must say I really don't like the design, the knurling and the pocket clip. No tail stand too and in my opinion way too expensive. But... thanks anyway.

Jaxman E3 is 3-mode… DQG Slim AA is 3-mode… Hmm, tough.

My Streamlight Protac 1AA can be configured for a low-high 2-mode (it is how I actually use it) via the Ten-Tap programming ability. Those aren’t available anymore, though, and not very bright to begin with. Plus awful PWM on low.

Looks like a tough ask. I’m not really sure of two-mode low-high AA/Li-Ion or just AA boost drivers. I tried Kaidomain’s offerings but also didn’t find anything (http://kaidomain.com/search&search=boost%20driver)

Ultratac A-1 is a 3 mode and not a 2 but it always comes on low with no memory. Looks similar to the Convoy.

Ultratac A1, 3 mode no memory. Nimh and Li-Ion. It’s at its best on NiMh though. Still a 3 mode. Have no clue on a reasonable, still in production light.

Sofirn really need to make the C01S in AA size, that would be perfect!

Manker E03H II 14500 / AA

Since you didn’t mention flood or throw - consider this light.

Long press for a configurable moonlight. Single click for high ( mode memory will keep it there). If you want, you can double click for turbo. Super simple to use and great tint (on mine) with the NW.

Hum got that!
Well, given your specific needs that was the one that suits them “simple and easy”. Personal preferences apart, of course.
I can think of the Skilhunt M150 V2, that works with AAs and 14500s, and that you can configure and operate to have 2 modes (+ turbo, + blinkies, out of the main cycle). It can start in the lowest mode or in the last used mode, and you have 7 of them from which you can pick.
It is not cheap as the Convoy T2 or the Jaxman E3, but it is more compact, can tailstand, has magnetic tailcap, can be operated with different types of batteries, has magnetic charging for 14500s, can be found in CW, NW and High CRI emitters.

Reylight Pineapple or LAN or equivalent, with the latest driver, you can program/select your favourite setting

Fireflies Stainless AA. Its a single AA, LMH that always starts on low. High CRI with a well balanced optic. Just received one the other day and so far VERY happy with the quality! Haven’t tried it on 14500, just nimh so far.

How’s the driver? Levels?

Mine came with a faulty driver, pm to BLF member Fireflies lead to a reply; please e-mail us.
Unfortunately they did not reply on the emails, so i bought some of Rey his drivers which should fit.
Hopefully they will arrive soon so i can revive the SS Enogear/Fireflies AA

Wickedly horrible PWM on low and mid, if you are sensitive to PWM.

Are you talking about the driver of the Fireflies Stainless AA?

Sorry, I was talking about the stock Stainless AA driver. Sorry again if I was answering the wrong question.

Thanks. That’s what I needed to know.

Looks like a nice light. Thanks for pointing me to it.

It seems like a very nice single AA light. But it still has 3 levels and... I couldn't find it in Europe. Amazon UK seems to have it but don't want to ship it to my location. :(

Right. With they same driver (2 levels and no memory) but higher output it would be perfect!

Maybe I’m not sensitive to PWM but my example is excellent. Can’t detect it with the naked eye and my iPhone camera isn’t seeing PWM either.

Now, mode spacing leaves a lot to be desired. Low is far too bright and there is little visible difference between medium and high. Unfortunately I’ve found this to be extremely common among 1AA lights (one of the reasons I love my Ti3 AAA lights).

I still haven’t dug out my 14500s to test on li ion.

So far, the Ultratac A1 V2 and the FireFlies SS AA are the only two single AA lights I could find without memory. Unfortunately both have still 3 levels.
