$10 or Less keychain AAA

Thanks for pointing that, I read the reviews before but didn’t check some parts! :+1:

However, while the E3A has only 1 mode, the C01S has 2 modes, which can make a battery eventually last longer if the lowest mode is used instead of the highest!

well having a moonlight mode is definitely a plus, but you cant compare run time of 3lm to runtime of 100lm lol

Now, I am even more torn. They both seem really appealing. Not sure which is better but leaning toward C01S. I definitely appreciate two modes for sure.

A very valid point. Thanks for the input!

well E3A is 12mm shorter, so if keychain is what you’re looking for, i believe size is a big factor, thats like the difference of the width of a finger. or thumb if your hand is small lol

The C01S is an excellent 2-mode light, though a little bulky. I have lots of them with different LEDs for indoor use, mainly as kind of candle lights.

For keychain use, I’d always recommend an Olight i3E or maybe the Skilhunt E3A. Both robust, single-mode, and ultra-compact lights. Twist and have enough light in front of your feet. A C01S would drive me crazy due to the need to twist the head twice for notable light output.

I've already ordered six C01S (they make cheap gifts), and I am very satisfied with them. The beam color is very nice (high CRI), machining is very good.

The two-mode interface is definitely an advantage: Low for night bathroom trips, High for other tasks requiring more light.

I've alreay ordered several colors: orange (my preferred one), blue, red (a dark red, almost magenta), and natural.

They are only around $7 + shipping if you order directly from sofirnlight, free shipping if you buy three or more.

And around §17 for two units at Aliexpress, free shipping.

yes, thats also why i went with E3A, i actually prefer single mode for keychain lights, i tried out E01, 3 modes, you have to twist THREE times to get to 100 lm, ridiculous lol

True

I guess also for the size the E3A may be a winner for keychain light!
I am probably going to get one soon too!

i already got 2, very neat little light, i love it. dont really get to use it much cuz we dont go out much these days lol, but u know, never hurt to have more flashlights just in case.

they also came out with a new E2A, much bigger, not my cup of tea, if im gonna go AA size, i might as well go 18650

I guess I’ll order both the E3 and the E2 to spare some time ordering/shipping
I’m just deciding about the colours.
I don’t really need the E3A, but it will be fun to have
And…you can never have too many lights :smiling_imp:

I do like the size of the E3A for sure. Do I need the high cri option? It is $3 more.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. Do I need rechargeable batteries to get the most out of the high cri option.

Use low self-discharge NiMH batteries to prevent leakage from alkalines.

HCRI is always nicer, but has lower output. If you just want to see the way or keyhole, it’s not needed.

I don’t see any price difference between the NW and High CRI versions, either ordering directly from Skilhunt or from AliExpress.

I notice only the slate blue version is "Type III anodization". To those who own other colors: how scratch resistant is the anodization?

Really surprised at the lack of love for the Thrunite. Have carried one for years. Great lights. With the free shipping deal you can now get 3 for under $20. It is a very nice light!

Few years on the keychain:

There are scratches even on type III anodized aluminium, but try this with a Maglite Solitair.

This has to be my fave AAA light.

Spend the extra buk and go for the slate-gray. You’ll thank me later.

Nice light, but go for the CW, as NW has an “off” tint.

For “keychain” lights and anything that’ll be bouncing around in a pocket, I don’t want a tailswitch which can be bumped on, and prefer twisties.
