ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

This store is making nice custom handles in brass, copper or titanium.

Is that for engraving service or to purchase ready-to-install custom scales for a Sanrenmu Land 910?

Just put this on order, should be interesting.

CIVIVI Pintail CPM-S35VN Mircata

I’d say you get the scales for that price when I see that you can pic either titanium or copper.

With the copper being more expensive. Strange world.

Still you can ask the seller, usually they reply quickly-

I tried the srm d2 and I feel that it outperforms the srm 14c28n on edge retention. But I did not do a rope cut test or anything.

I am subscribed to a bunch of gun sites, and EDC sites. This popped up as a special sale one day. Kershaw Grid….$17!

It’s not a bad knife. Not the best blade profile, but it serves my needs.
And what? I’m NOT going to buy it? It was $17 for cryin’ out loud! lol

Eventually I’m going to copper plate the scales, and do a shipwreck patina on them.

So I got my Master Hunter in 3V and it’s a hell of a knife… fully processed 130kg wild boar and it’s still sharp. Not shaving sharp but sharp enough. Seems to loose its initial sharpness and then hold an enge for a long time. The boar was covered in mud and had his winter coat on so I’m really happy with it. Not hard to sharpen either.

Civivi Pintail arrived.

Pintail

Interesting knife. Shorter handle than my beloved para3 and smaller in the pocket but longer blade edge. Surprisingly lightweight, party due to the thin blade stock, which is my only gripe, the tip looks like it could be a tad fine and dainty and the top blade bevel is not quite even on both sides. I want to like this, it feels good, we’ll see how it holds up.

This store is not making scales. I just tried to order. It turns out this is only an engraving service for the scales, which they do not have.

I would understand that if they’d engraved the original steel scales - but copper or titanium? Wtf?

I’ve been adding a few SAKs to my collection. Second hand but barely used. Nice to find some near new knives for not a lot of money on ebay.

Any clue on how good this knife/steel can be?

That's a good looking knife.

I think Sanrenmu tells the truth about what steel they use, and I think 12C27 is fairly decent.

It’s kind of a miniature Ruike P801 (which has 14c28n steel), it’s a tiny knife.

The blade is 2.56 inches long, which is kinda small.

I like the dragon etching on the handle.

Thanks for the reply RC!
I do have other SRM knifes (my only 2 :D) and I like them. They don’t have tail clip, though, it is located where the blade rotates. Looking to this one, I find it has a good overal size ~16 cm, and it is kind of elegant.
I read that this kind of steel is prone to break if bent, but I don’t intend to make it bend, so maybe it is a good option.

I’ve been looking to get a better knife and was looking to some Kizer knives (as this one), but I’m not sure if I’m ready to go that expensive yet :stuck_out_tongue:

Where did you order these scales from?

Got about 40 replica/clone knives (only ZT Kershaw and Benchmade) some remarkable good (Benchmade 940) Some very poor (ZT308) Decided to buy a genuine ZT357 and it is such a big difference, especially the blade sharpness out of the box and the way the knife handles.

Still will keep some good replica’s but decided to sell most of the other ones.

The SRM 7129 is indeed a small Ruike P801 except of a different steel and a thumb stud instead of a flipper tab.
The Ruike is using ball bearings iirc, the SRM uses washers.

It’s nice to make new scales for it but it’s too tiny for edc.

The surface is hand sanded (different directions) I wish they just left it with the dragon stamped in without sanding (not etched, no CNC, stamped with a die .
It’s looking better stonewashed I’d say.

Carbon fiber from a decommissioned wheel chair’s wheel cover, the cut-outs were there for the fasteners for different mounting positions.

Fun fact, it has the clip that was designed for the Kershaw Chill.

Just saw on Aliexpress that there is a tiny “report fraud item” icon on articles in the top right corner. It’s gonna be fun :smiling_imp:
