I bought an Astrolux S43 from Banggood and I was really looking forward to the Nichia bulb and the ramping feature. It arrived in about 2 weeks (fast from Banggood!) but was dead on arrival. I let Banggood know and they first asked to see photos of the packaging. I sent that. Then they wanted a video showing the light didn’t work. I sent that. They refunded my money and told me to discard the light. I did.
But I still was intrigued by the light so I bought a second with the refund. It also came in 10 days but was also dead on arrival. I showed it to a custom light builder just to be certain I wasn’t getting tripped up with the OS and he confirmed it was DOA. With a second failure I’m hesitant to reach out to Banggood since it seems unlikely that two lights would fail and I’m not confident they would honor a second refund due to failure. At least I know I would be suspicious with two in a row.
So, good customer service from Banggood, but bad experience with two identical S43 lights that were DOA.
Anyone else have issues with their Astrolux S43?
What battery did you use for the S43?
Can you also post a link to the video? Just in case there was something that may not be immediately obvious…
Not to offend… but I’ve had some people who were asking about their “flashlights not working or not working well” upon arrival (in a local flashlight online group in our country). Asking them to post a picture or a video, I’ve sometimes noticed simple errors or flaws that are fixable — eg. a part of an insulation sticker (like those they stick in batteries when shipping), that got stuck in the tailcap, this prevented proper contact, until I suggested to clean up the “sticker”. Or sometimes, it’s just a lose retaining ring somewhere in the head or the tail portion… Or sometimes could just be some other obstruction or something that cause the body tube to not properly make contact with the head or tailcap…
I appreciate that you’re trying to help, but I’ve been collecting flashlights since the Bucklights came out in the mid-1990s and those lights almost single-handedly started the EDC movement. I also spent a couple years routing out Surefire bodies to take 18650 batteries before there were any 18650 format flashlight on the market and protected cells were impossible to find. Nowadays I’ve retired about 40 lights (retired law enforcement so I’ve used a lot of them) and still have a dozen or more I use weekly.
For the video sent to Banggood I turned on and off a flashlight to show it worked, removed the battery and put it into the Astrolux, nothing happened. I think I should post this elsewhere since yours is the only response!
I'm the one who wrote the firmware for the S43 - NarsilM v1.3, though I have no direct contact with them or have been compensated in any way. I think I have a S43 light. I'm leaning toward thinking it might be something simple, like d_t_a is saying. Though obviously you are experienced with flashlights, some of these Astrolux's are notorious for some quirky issues. What exact cell are you using - brand/model, protected or not, button top or not? I can check against my S43.

Tom E, thanks for replying. Various protected button top cells, 2 different AW 18350, Panasonic 18650, Sanyo 18650, and two different flat top unprotected and unlabeled IMR. None worked.

I’m interested in the Astrlux EC03 but do not want the battery. I hope Banggood will offer it without the battery at a lower price.
The included battery is not suitable for the EC03. In Banggoods own listing for this product, a Golisi S35 30A battery and 18650 batteries over 20A are recommended. Why does Banggood include a 15A (claimed) battery that will not allow the flashlight to achieve it’s maximum output?.
