Test/review of Murata US18650VTC4 2100mAh (Green)

Murata US18650VTC4 2100mAh (Green)

Official specifications:

  • Nominal capacity: 2100mAh

  • Rated capacity: 2000mAh

  • Nominal voltage: 3.7V

  • Cycle life: 600 cycles to 60% at 10A discharge.

This is a rather old cell, I have a datasheet from 2012 (Sony brand), but this cell has obvious been manufactured after Murata bought Sonys LiIon cell division.
It is designed for high current.

The two cells matches very well. The capacity is not that high compared to modern cells, but it can deliver a lot of current.

Conclusion

This is a very good cell for high current, but not the only 18650, some 2600mAh can also deliver this much current.

:+1: Thanks HKJ

Thank you for this review. It may be an oldie, but it’s certainly a goldie!

NKON is selling these for €1.95 (VAT incl.).
Refurbished: taken out of battery-packs that failed the final test (bad spotwelds, etc)
But they claim every individual cell is tested, and meets it’s official specs.
I don’t get payed for this. It’s just one of my (few remaining) preferred suppliers.

Maybe I am a bit slow and it’s old news, but I noticed you have included 20A and 30A currents.

Thanks for your review and Happy Holidays!

I do not see this battery in your comparator.

Thanks

Yes it is on the list. Look under 18650 lights. And with the name Murata, not Sony

Thanks for the “check” on an old favorite! I agree with some here that it’s very cool when you review an older model to continue to complete (for us all) your superb (and comprehensive) database we ALL rely on— Cheers to you HKJ!!!

Thanks for this test!

Have been wanting to know how the Sony VTC4 performs compared to other 18650s since some time ago, glad to know it’s now included in the comparator.
