Why is it that that the Sofirn IF25A is a quad with a perfectly round beam, and the Astrolux quads are always all botched up.
Thank you for your side by side video review. The beam has very interesting artifacts, that is one of the reasons why I like it. The beam has a very nice defined hotspot, combined with plenty of wide useful spill.
Just got mine today, very impressive and gives out a lot of light 
the review gives a good impression of what the torch is like even though it was not in English. Mine is the sandy/gold coloured one and is very well manufactured and attractively designed.
I now have a good family of astrolux and have been impressed with them all. I would buy more, but waiting for some of the multi-cell torches to swap to 21700 and USB c charging and I will purchase these as well.
Good points, for me, are USB C the outstanding light output and is a 26650 plus have the option of using a 21700, very nicely machined and nice to hold, use and look at. Very good price for what you get!!
pedantic points, The point where the lanyard will thread through looks incredibly thin on one point and may spoil the torch if used? maybe a simple CNC reprogram?
Would I buy again, yes I would, and tend to have a twin of the best torches I get either for a different emitter or to give as a gift.
I wish they’d make the lights in this sort of design with better looking and throwier emitters. Sofirn C8F is pretty much the only one that doesn’t use SST-40 or XHP50.2. A single 21700 or 26650 is only going to be able to push these very hard for a super brief time anyway.
I’m waiting out for multi 21700 and USB C so should help? I think heat will always be the main issue regarding output for a compact torch. For the price, it is a lot of light/torch/features for a good price. Yes, the Sofirn C8F seems a nice torch but the deal breaker is the lack of USB, of course, this lets the torch be lighter and compact as well as cheaper. i suppose each torch will have its merits depending on what is needed from it but will always perhaps be a compromise

I don’t know, but based on how long I’ve been waiting for Astrolux / Banggood to re-release the EC03 with xhp50, I wouldn’t hold my breathe. I also say that because I’ve seen comments from Freeme here and there about the difficulty Astrolux is having in sourcing 5700k xhp50.’s, that one top of the fact they keep releasing NEW multi emitter xhp50 lights… who knows, maybe manufacturing will pick back up.
Side note- the ec03 xhp50 is so much better then the sst40 version (IMO) I have finally just ordered the bare xhp50’s from Simon at Convoy to reflow them into a sst40 version ec03… of course they’ll be 6500k…. sucks but Better than that great light being plagued by the horrible beam with sst40’s…
I have the EC03 in sst40 and actually like it a lot. I compared the ft02s with 5700k 50.2 and the EC03 sst40 5000k and like the beam better. The extra throw is nice also.
Cutter had them in stock a while ago. However, shipping from Australia is going to hurt. Even 4 LEDs at $28 is hard to justify almost $20 for shipping to the US. For now, Kaidomain and Convoy are your source for 6000k to 6500k.
You know, I might give it another try. It was months ago, and I ordered the sst40’s 6500k version even though I don’t like that tint, because i wanted to dedome them and thought it’d be better.
I have been talking crap on the ec03 sst40’s beam for awhile, but I think I’m going to try it in 5000k and see how I like it.
Also, I get where your coming from- I absolutely love how the ft02s xhp50 beam looks, but I read so many people saying on here that the beam is ugly. I just don’t see it, I think the beam is great. It has a hotspot on a white wall like a single emitter reflector thrower.
I think you’ll like it. Definitely a dramatic difference from 6500k. It’s sort of green at really low settings. I get around 5300 lumens on turbo with a P42A.
The ft02s 50.2 beam is not bad. Yah it’s got artifacts and rings with tiny shift but that comes with the territory on multi emitter lights. I’ve never had a multi emitter light that didn’t have some artifacts and oddities, except my 8 year old SRK with XMLs.
Yea I know I like sst40’s in 5000k, they are one of my favorites for high output leds. Nice tint usually. Yea the only Light I had with multiple emitter that had a really nice beam was the Haikelite hk04 with sst40’s. It was 6500k abd had a slight rose petal outside, but inside it was really well done.
