Sofirn SC01 - new model?? (10180)

I've checked the ebay link I gave you in my former post. The Shipping and Payments tab says:

  • Shipping to: Worldwide
  • Excludes: Guadeloupe, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, American Samoa, French Polynesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Greenland, Bolivia, Ecuador, French Guiana, China (i.e. Philippines not excluded)
  • If I choose Philippines in the pop-up menu: Shipping and Handling GBP 0.49.

I'm not advertising for this ebay seller (others offer the same shipping option), just trying to help...

The item description lists “10180 battery (included)”, there is no option to purchase without battery. (I purchased the SC01 from the official Sofirn / Shopee store, which is Sofirn’s online store portal for Southeast Asia customers).

I just got mine. I’m loving the quality. The stainless steel feels substantial. Threads are firm and smooth, and the two light levels are both very useful, with a very nice tint, very easy on the eye, and smooth beam profile.

I got mine on stainless ball chain at the moment. Makes for a perfect necklight.

13 days later mine has arrived too! all packed in a nice little box with spares and battery already loaded. Looks to be around 4000k (which is nice!), I`v never had a modern light in Stainless Steel before so this is a lovely addition to my collection.

That`s 5 different Sofirn lights I`v had so far and 5 lights that I`v really liked! :+1:

For anyone who’s looking for replacement batteries, it looks like Sofirn has a listing up for them:

Unfortunately, the listing seems to have a couple errors, including (probably) the price of $0.00…

Received mine today and tint is gorgeous. This is first Sofirn light with sst-20 without any hint of green in the beam. It’s pretty close to tint of the Manker E02 II and E03H II.

Nicer than C01S sst20?

Yes, I have a couple C01S with sst-20@4000K and both have quite greenish tint, compared to SC01.

Thank you!

Looks nearly identical to the small Trustfire…

I have a small collection of Titanium versions, the Klarus Mini One Ti, Jetbeam Mini 1 Ti, Klarus X1S Ti, and a DQG Hobi+ Ti…
All function essentially the same, with a little metal “button” that completes a second current path for the “high” mode. Exception is the Hobi+, which has a three-mode actual driver.

The SC01 in aluminum would be my preferred option. I like my keychain lights to weigh as little as possible. I’m also glad that Sofirn has obtained a bin of SST-20 4000K with a nice tint, and it bodes well for future flashlights too. Looks like my ideal keychain light.

What’s the runtime on this light?

What is the capacity of the included battery?

The capacity of the included battery is 80mAh.

I’ve both the olight i1r 2 EOS which was given out for free by Olight recently, and the Sofirn SC01.

In terms of physical quality, the knob twisting feels much better on the Olight. The SC01 is in turn much better than the Astrolux M02 (which was terrible), though it definitely feels less polished than the Olight.

In terms of durability, the SC01 will retain its good looks much longer as a keychain light due to its stainless steel material. The anodized Olight already looks worn out after a few weeks.

SC01 feels brighter at max brightness, though I’m not sure whether it’s due to its smaller hotspot. Olight is floodier.

Update: the stock oring is a little tight for my liking. I’ve changed it to the stock oring from a Tank007 TK703. It now feels much smoother, and very close to the Olight i1r 2 EOS.

The Olight i1R EOS is prone to flicker when rotating. I’ve cleaned the threads and contacts and that fixes it for a time, but then it comes back. Also, the travel between low and high is a bit long, and once in high it will still turn almost 60 degrees before stopping. The Sofirn SC01 does not flicker. The travel from low to high feels shorter and once at high there’s barely a couple millimeters travel until a hard stop. It just feels much better. And of course, the SST20 4000k emitter just blow away the harshly cold Olight i1R.

I don’t plan to EDC this on a keychain. The all steel SC01 is too heavy. It’s fine for a micro-pocket light. But I’d like to see an all aluminum version for keychain use.

I agree that it is to heavy, but it is better than the half dozen or so others I have that are about the same size so I carry it anyway….

The 10180 that came with my SC01 tested far above its 80mAh rating at 50mA discharge from 4.19 to 2.80V. Well, “far” as a percentage anyway:

The #3 on the right came with the SC01, the left two are from Sofirn’s webpage and tested much worse. Of course the, um, 9mm brass spacers may affect the results. Resistance was in the 500-600 mOhm range.

Love the spacers… do whatcha gotta do! Interesting about the variance. Perhaps varying manufacturers / batches / etc?
