Still waiting for T9R, no news from FF about an upcoming shipment.
I`ve seen in the thread of another FF model, that they are going to start sending them, but without a specific date, and I have not received any mail from FF.
The information I posted above came from an email from them a day earlier. Not sure what hold up is but I’m glad they are testing product to get it right before releasing.
This is the email I got last night, they are shipping the T9R any day now since they have passed testing. The E12R has been delayed another 2 weeks or so but honestly I’m glad they are doing all the testing and making sure when we get the lights they are working properly.
a big factor is surface area. OSRAM is 1 mm2, while, say a 5 mm x 5mm LED is 25 mm2, so 25 times the area. Dunno what the size is of an SBT90.2 off hand, but just as example of 5x5, the LED would have to be 25 times more lumens than the OSRAM to have equal surface brightness.
The SBT-90 is a 9mm² die. Luminus nomenclature is straight forward; They put the emitter surface area (multiplied by 10) right in the name. 10, 16, 20, 40, 70, 90, 140 …most are exact figures. I’m not sure how they handle domed emitters ‘apparent area’ though TBH. The reason I mention this is from what I know, the SST20 is a 1.7mm² die. It might be closer to (likely greater than) 2mm² with the dome’s magnification. That’s the only model that I think deviates from its name in exact mm².
That was my dilemma about a 2 months ago. I couldn’t wait no longer and purchased the k1. But I also purchased this light about 2 weeks ago as well. I’ll report back as soon as I get it
