Astrolux FT02S New Color 11000 Lumens How To Choose The Right Battery

Am I the only one who doesn’t know how to translate this?

Well. Overall I think I made the right choice! Bought two shockli 5500mAh to go along my FT02s. High capacity and second best amp draw capacity!

You click subtitles icon (rectangle with dots/lines) on the bottom right, then click the little cog next to it and choose auto translate (is set to Vietnamese), then choose English.

The batteries that gave higher numbers have a higher Continuous Discharge Rate and as the FT02S’s driver uses all the amperage it can draw at high output, a higher CDR means higher brightness. If you noticed, he got the highest lux figures from the Samsung 40t 21700 battery which is a good battery rated from 25a to 35a CDR depending on which rating you look at. As I don’t believe the reviewer would include cells that were not designed for high drain usage, the batteries that “fall” (I think he means “fail” as English is not his first language) may not have been making good contact because of the way they were being inserted or were not adequately charged. If they’re good batteries I can’t think of any other reason for the “fall”.

When looking for batteries CDR capabilities, look for reviews from reputable reviewers. Do not ever accept the output numbers on the cell wrap or label as they are almost always inflated. To get a high CDR you generally have to accept a little less capacity.

HJK does great battery reviews on BLF and a guy named Mooch (you’ll have to google that) also does honest reviews.

for 26650 the shockli seems like best, for 21700 use either 30T for max lumens or more balanced 40T best overall choice or if u can find the molicell 21700 also good choice.

Is shockli a battery manufacturer or do they re-wrap?

Hi forum,

New here and just got my FT02S XHP 50.2, bought a 26650 Li-ion-batteri 3,6 V 5000 mAh.

A bit disappointed and was expecting more lm but might be I’m missing something in the set up. Any tips on how to solve?

All the best!

Which battery are you using? You need a high performance battery. What do you mean disappointed? What were you expecting?

It’s an XTAR, but maybe not good enough.

Was expecting something a bit more over the top than the CREE XML T-6 3000lm I already have.

When maximizing the ramping the output is good and of course better than the CREE one, but not as much as I might have thought.

Well for one the XTAR is a protected cell and it can only discharge at roughly 7A while the FT02S can draw well over 30A on turbo so the battery you are using isn’t capable of running the light properly.

With the XTAR cell at most you would get out of the FT02S would be roughly 3000~ lumens.

CREE XML T-6 3000lm ? the zoomie ?

Oh, I see. Any recommendations on a better suited battery?

Yes, the zoomie.

I’ve liked these so far in higher drain lights. Hohm Tech Grown² 26650 4244mAh 30.3A Battery - 18650 Battery Store

Size: 26650
Style: Flat Top
Nominal Capacity: 4307mAh
Continuous Discharge Rating: 32.3A
Can be charged at a tested/proven 5.30A - I still wish the chargers would hurry up and increase the charge rate to newer standards. 5amp multi-bay chargers should be available today imho. The R/C hobby industry has been running lipo at high C charge rates for years.

Looks like the 26650 Shockli have a higher Mah rating @5000. Testing to about 4900mah.

Shockli black 5500mah are my go to 26650, I also have a few IJOY 26650 I got on sale at a local vape shop since no one bought them I got them for a steal.

Also if its the zoomie with a single LED that thing doesn’t put out 3000lm it might put out 900~ at best But once you get a good cell in your FT02S you will see the real difference between the two lights.

Ultra high drain unprotected 21700 for maximum peak performance.

Try a 21700 40T and also a 30T for lots of peak amps. Any better?

iJoy INR26650 4200mAh - 40A

is a good 26650 high drain battery.

or u can use a 21700 battery with the included adapter like 30T samsung or 40T highdrain.

in this type of light with multi emitters that can draw alot of amps on high and turbo mode, never use protected batteries as the output will be very limited.

my light is on its way so i havent been able test it yet but im looking forward it…

I use a 30T for max output or Molicel P42A for longer runtimes. The P42A beats the 40T as far as I know. Fantastic cell. The 26650’s will give more runtime but lower output. The Shockli cells are made by an OEM in Ch8na, and the black 5500 may ones are really good. If you can swing it, the Vapcell T50 is a good 21700.

yes true if u can find Molicel P42A its the best 21700 cell in terms of amps it can discharge.

Is it safe to use 5000mah unprotected battery with max discharge of 15A with this flashlight, since it can pull up to 30 amps ?
