FW3A Troubleshooting / FAQ

From off, try 13 fast clicks and hold the last one. The led should do something.

Or try 13 fast clicks and hold on the 12th or 14th one.

I don’t have the later model, so I’m not sure.

From Toykeeper:
From a regular “off” state, click 13 times and hold the last click for a few seconds. Then keep holding the button for 3 seconds. The light should flash an increasingly bright warning, during which time the user can let go to abort without any changes. Then after 3 seconds, it gives a bright flash and fades back to nothing. This indicates the reset has completed.

Instead of doing a reset, you can change the number of steps.

Make sure you are in stepped ramping mode, not smooth.

Turn light On.
Do 4 fast clicks

Let the light do the first flutter, then let it do the second flutter.
When it is doing the third flutter, click 7 times. Then let it finish.

Now you should have 7 steps.

I know I know, thank you :+1:

I would like to do a reset is for the temperature sensor

I don’t remember where, but I read in forum that I have to press the switch for 3 seconds after screw tailcup.
There is a mode for understand if my fw3a is compatible with reset or not?

The FW3A was NEVER meant to be reset by disconnecting power. It HAS to be done through the 13H clicks (assuming it has the reset software option).

I have a video on how to reset the thermals.

Make sure the light is internally at room temp.

Video is not available

Martin has one also.

Thank you

The reset is available from what date?

Hard to say for the FW3A because Lumintop started very, very late with using a newer firmware. Not sure if they even use a version with reset yet.

So we have all FW3A not resettable?

It’s unknown. Maybe newer ones have it, but older ones are still being sold from their inventory. You would need to do the 13H to find out if yours has it or not.

I try but nothing happen… 12 click, 13 click or maybe 14 click… just for fun :person_facepalming:

Why the sad face? None of my lights have the reset and it is no big deal. They work just fine.

Yes men, all of my light are old… only the Astrolux FT03 has reset

I love my fw3a deep carry clips, and have about 3 extra at all times for other lights they fit on as well as if I buy a new fw3a. But I have had the “return” part of the clip catch on things and pull away from the rest of clip, permanently bending it, happen multiple times. It just happened right now, getting into my car, here is a picture of what I mean:

I usually just end up cutting the return part off with an angle grinder, sanding the edges and moving on. Anyone else have this happen to them? Is it just me? I have other clips that have returns on them like this, and they get caught on things, but never permenently bend like the fw3a clip . It’s really annoying whe it happens and it always happens to me, this clip is about 2 weeks old and now I’m averaging 100% of the time I use a new fw3a deep carry, I bend the return out and “ruin” it. I have heated it and Bent it back into place before, but it just keeps happening. I wonder if these clips aren’t hardened steel like others may be? Any info would be awesome. Thank you.

Note- it got caught on the underneath of my steering wheel while I was getting into my car. That’s usually where it gets caught and bends for me. But I’ve also have hd it get caught while I’m standing up while leaning against something in a tight space, and what I’m leaning against is fabric or sturdy enough to catch the clip and bend it.

I hate two way clips. Seriously. I’d cut the second bend off them immediately. They aren’t practically usefully and just and bulk and snag points. I really don’t know why they are trending…

No disrespect all you clip users. Please educate me why not just drop the light into your pocket? Things clipped to pockets and belts are bound to get snagged.
