Is there a "one stop shop" so to speak for rechargeable battery recommendations

My apologies is this has been addressed time and time again, I’m both new to the forum, rechargeable battery options and flashlights in general. Looking through a variety of forums and spending a little time on the Olight Facebook page has really done nothing more than opened up a book of questions in my mind. Currently my questions in the realms of, “Which brand 10440 batteries should I buy for my Olight i3T EOS Titanium and which charger would be well equipped to handle that along with Eneloop AAA/AA batteries…then I saw the Samsung 30Q 18650 batteries were recommended for the Sofirn SC31 Pro 2000”…well you can see where this is going. I’m just wondering if there are resources available on this forum or elsewhere you folks are aware that I could gather a large amount of information in one place that could answer an abundance of my basic novice-type questions.

you can always ask your question here, you’ll get so many different answers you wont know what to believe, lol but seriously this is a good place, almost everyone here used rechargeable, we have members here who test cells, on a very professional level, we have entire section here dedicated to batteries and chargers. you do not even have to ask, with so much info we have here, you’ll prbly find an answer to any of your questions by just searching and reading thru that section.

Not really. There are some guides about choosing batteries but it isn’t common to find specific batteries for specific lights. Too many combinations.

Here are the main factors:

Can the battery fit? Some lights can’t fit extra long or extra thick cells.

Does the light need a button top? Some have physical polarity protection. Usually the manufacturer will say if a light needs button tops.

Does the light need a protected cell? Some lights have no low voltage protection built into the driver.

What is the max current a light can pull? Try to get a cell at least that powerful. In rare cases you need a weaker battery to prevent burning out the LEDs.

People will generally talk about these things on a review for a specific light. Just do some research on your light and see if people have warning about certain cells being a bad combination.

I can give more specific advice for battery shopping. There are a handful of trusted and respected battery vendors in the US. I workon a searchable database of their complete inventory that I update every couple of weeks. Find out what your light needs and plug in those requirements and you’ll be shown the best deals available.

I’ve always used this website: Batteries and chargers

It is a tremendous resource and I believe it is the work of member HKJ?

I am cheap (why I’m on BLF). But I also want better things for a fair price (again. why I am here on BLF) So when I found myself where your are (ALSO… here on BLF and welcome!), I got lost on lots of STORE sites at first. $1 16850s are click bait to me. To this day- like Ron White said about titties (“… and all you guys can back me up”)- I HAVE to look! :stuck_out_tongue:

BUT now I KNOW there is a 99.9% chance it’s total junk if it’s not pretty close to the right price. You have also noticed by now that there are a LOT of counterfeit batteries around (China especially) and yes… sometimes you get a tip from a BLF’er when some REAL deals pop-up. But really, if you want to not get burned you have to buy your batteries from a reliable source with CORRECT specs shown. AND… as you look over their inventory you’ll get a clue on costs Vs. performance and learn specs that will make hanging out around these parts easier as you go.

For me the last year, I have found the 18650battery.com site to have an excellent selection, with HONEST specs. The battery label may say 25A, but they will note, “ya… more like 15A.” I use their site as a bookmark when I read about a battery (here) often that I can’t remember the specs on. SO… if anything there are ALSO a great reference point as you do your research. But I have to add they are WELL priced on both batteries and shipping too (* don’t own their stock, never got anything free from them).

There are several OTHER good sellers in the US and most (you’ll find us talking about buying from) are good guys making a fair buck selling a genuine battery. But if you need INFO on a particular battery as you get addicted here… check out 18650battery.com. You can get a baseline price, then also GOOD info on MOST batteries we are using here.

Good luck and again… welcome!

i second the 18650 battery store advice, i get my cells from them now, they wont sell you fakes. i have not seen anyone complain about the store. if they were caught selling fakes, i’d be all over blf and cpf.

Welcome to the forum.

Olight i3T EOS Titanium does not use 10440

the manual mentions a Lithium battery
but they are not Lithium Ion, and they are not rechargeable.

I recommend the Olight Universal Charger, it works with all the rechargeable batteries you mention.
