Single AA light with only low and high and no memory

I love greek mythology… thanks for the interesting google

I look forward to hearing you found a light that makes you happy, soon

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. Big to all of you!

At this moment I'm leaning towards the Streamlight ProTac 1L 1AA. Most important this light can be setup with low - high, has no memory and can run on CR123, 14500 and AA (alkaline & lithium) cells. Also important I like the design, Streamlight is well known for making reliable and good quality lights and the ProTac 1L 1AA is available in Europe.

My existing Convoy T2 will get a LED4Power driver. This is by far my most favourite (highly custom configurable) lineair driver which I'm currently using in all my recently modded 1 cell lithium flashlights.

This being said I will also try to build an Oshpark HQ 17mm boost driver for the Convoy T2 host I ordered today. Thanks to Bourbon Guy for pointing me to this possibility and all the hard work done by HarleyQuin. Thanks guys!

Which driver are you planning to build? I have a couple of working 17B’s but failed to build a working 17D. I should sit down with a multimeter and see where the problem is.

Either way I’m glad someone else is attempting them.

PM sent. :)

I would be interested in this. Some of my favorite lights are the three-mode L10 and L11C. Sadly, they are discontinued.

Are you sure the ProTac 1L-AA will work with a 14500 (4.2 volt) cell?

Thanks!

According to someone who used his ProTac 1L-AA with a 14500 cell the light seems still to work just fine after about 50 charges. However, configured to Low-High it seems there is only high when using a 14500 cell.

The 1L-AA does have 2-levels using a 14500 when configured as Lo-Hi. It’s just that they aren’t as visually distinctive as compared to something like the OL i5t’s 2-levels. Also, one must half-press relatively quickly (short OFF time) to switch between from one level to the other.

Actually I should have said “(short ON time)”. To get to High from Off, simply double click quickly fom Off.

However, if the first click to Low is On for more than about 1 second, getting to High from that point requires a double click to cycle through Low-then-High.

OK thanks!!

Just passing by a new Skilhunt E2A, an AA/ 14500 with 3-modes, Low - Med - High. I do not think there is a flashlight with only 2-modes CMIIW

The Skilhunt doesn’t fit OP’s requirements.
And there is/are flashlights with only 2 modes. The one I presented (Olight i5T EOS) is one of those.

Ran across the Nextorch C1. Single AA two mode light. I’ve never had a Nextorch so I can’t speak to it’s quality.

Another candidate - Trustfire T2 …. with Cree XPL, 2 levels, no memory, works with AA and 14500.

Problem still is that in the 2 level mode the light comes on in high.

I also don't like the Olights i5T EOS..

Does someone have a similar flashlight to recommend but with a better design?

Similar in specs that is :)

I have an Armytek A1 Partner, single AA and only has two modes.
Unfortunately, I have no idea if you can still find it on the market or not.

The latest model they currently have is the one with 8 modes :person_facepalming:

I can't imagine why one would need 8 modes.

Thank you for the info

Yesterday I was looking into Jaxman (AliExpress) store as I wanted to order a new Jaxman E3. While reading the specs, I noticed this
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32610831028.html

So, jaxman can make a driver with 2 levels…I am not sure if the levels will suit your needs.
I can tell, though, that the E3 is an incredibly strong flashlight as host

Thanks for the info. I noticed this too and have been talking to Jaxman. Communication is slow and seems difficult though.
