DOA - Nitecore TM11--- So disappointed

Hi again, just sent an email to Gun Safari, will keep you all updated soon as I receive a reply.

Damn, I can't believe how much trouble you're going through for something that's not your fault!

The profit margin by your purchase alone should have allowed Nitecore to send you a free replacement without much loss. You can almost buy three Kings for the price & shipping you paid.

But you still choose Nitecore despite that, and to repay you for your loyalty, they do this. What a way to build customer trust...

Sucks.

Its defective. Its the sellers responsibilty to pay for the return ship and either refund you or replace it.

I understand with low cost items, this is not always feasible. But with something of higher cost, its the law! If they dont, file a claim with PP. if they dont help, chargeback.

Good luck...but then again, doesnt Mr Wolf solve all problems?? ;) He's badass!

Wheres our resident Nitecorian?

Don't weaken, Wolfie . If things drag on - and on, and on :tired: .., sometimes it can be surprisingly tempting to think "Hell with it, I just want a working torch, I'll pay the *@#%* return shipping". That's not on, not at $40. Again, keep us posted mate.

Dispute it with your Credit Card company, and not deal OR buy a NiteCore product again. You didn't buy some cheap chinese no frills, no name light; so IF that is what THEY think of their own product.....then be done with them. No wonder they only get paid $1.00 an hour, they aren't even worth that wage! Their CEO gets rich off of stuff like this to the Western World.

Hi guys,

I have caved in, the stress is not worth it,going to post flashlight back to China.

Reasons:

1. Gun Safari could not give a sh!t.....I will paste below my email to them and also their reply.

2. it is cheaper to post back to china as the US now have a "security surcharge" of $9 on top of the postage.

3. If i open a Paypal dispute or credit card charge back, I have to return the flashlight anyway. I will get my money back, but with postage I had to pay of $20 to ship to me, postage to return the item to Gun Safari $42 + security surcharge of $9 =total postage $71 and not have a flashlight.

One thing I do know,GS has lost my business for any future purchases, and as you all know with this hobby we spend a lot of money over the years.

I love this forum and the enjoyment you guys give me with your post and information, and to be part of that is priceless.

Cheers,

Tony

My email to GS:

Hi,
I have contacted Dorri lu from Nitecore and the only solution is for me to post the item to her in China for a new replacement of the defective TM11 flashlight.
This is not acceptable to me as it is going to cost me over $40 in postage and god knows how long before I receive a working flashlight.
So what I ask of Gun Safai as the retailer, is to find me a better solution for a replacement of the defective TM11 flashlight which was shipped to me.

Thanking your for your time.

Sincerely yours,
Anthony

Gun Safari reply:

You can ship it to the US, I will ship it to them and get you a replacement sent out.

Daniel

Hey, screw that, man! I'd insist on one from their stock, if they don't do that, time for a Paypal claim immediately.

You're much more patient than me if you accept their crap. I'd be ripping it apart and putting AMC drivers in it...

Rich

Noooooo!!! You weakened! :( Well, I guess I understand. Life's too short and all that. Still, it REALLY sucks when companies give the complacently indifferent brush off like that. I wish I knew the legalities of these situations. Whether, for instance, a seller would - eventually - have to reimburse for return shipping? Still, at least as a forum member you have the satisfaction of spreading the word about them. Good luck wuith the replacement process.

Hey guys,

The way I look at it, I can not let one retailer spoil my hobby. Yes I could do the paypal thing, but as I said before (and I have not checked their terms and conditions) but I am sure Paypal would require me to ship the light back before a refund was issued, which is fair. I took the gamble and purchased from the internet.

As for Gun Safari ( and I hope they are reading this) how about checking your stock is in WORKING ORDER before shipping to your customers.

Now let me move on to the good point:

Thanks to BLF and all the members ( you guys are great) I was able to obtain a coupon which saved me $110 off the purchase price. I will still be in front by around $22 ( a loss if you count pain and suffering of going through this), as the cheapest price I can buy in Australia is $225 from a non-ebay site. Even most Ebay seller's want $260.

Again thank you to my BLF family for giving me support with this matter.

Tony.

PS: I will keep you all informed when I get the TM11 in my hands again.

Nitecore sucks, and Gun Safari sucks. I almost bought one from them, but really didn't want a cool white led.

Disappointed: the word you can use when you buy a $10 cheap UF or whatever, and receive it with diff tint or with 100lm instead of 400

But when you buy a faulty $200+ light... disappointed is not the word I'd use :~ Sorry to hear that, mate. Hope you will manage it in good way. I was frustrated with similar $hit not so long ago (not flashlight related, but it was an expensive item too). And you know, $hit happens  Don't waste your "health", take it easy and be patient. Good luck ;)

Hope all goes well with the returns. You will use registered mail, right? So that they won't pull "we haven't received it" stunt on you.

I think that is fair enough. The Australian dealer is an independent business - not a division of Nitecore - Mr Wolf hasn't spent any money with him. It's not his job to care for other companies customers!

That's why the local businesses charge more - you are paying for the after-sales service that you have to do without if you order direct.

I totally agree that the local people can also be a rip-off - I avoid them wherever possible (like you guys, I know what stuff really costs!). But in doing so there is an element of risk - if the item is DOA or dies during it's warranty period, it may not be economical to return.

If it was a $50 generic light, I would probably just keep it as a host, but for a $150 brand-name awesome light, you can return it for repair, and still have paid less than if you bought from a local business.

Good Luck!
Pete

I gave it some thought and decided to open a Paypal dispute. All I am asking for in the dispute is for shipping cost only.

Reason:

If Gun Safari had checked the light to make sure it worked before shipping(more so as they knew it was going to Australia) then their would have been no problem, all parties would have been happy./

Off Track for a bit:

Each flashlight has a serial number which then gives it a birth date and also a history. I can not disclose anymore at this stage for obvious reasons.

Cheers guys.

Welcome to the monkey house, mrwolf!

I hope your PayPal dispute goes well.

I picked up a TM-11 from Gun Safari a while back. Thankfully mine has been awesome. To be honest the only reason I bought this light initially was the discount. I could not find the light anywhere for such a low price. When I bought, I was hesitant as it just seemed to good to be true. There was some drama on another forum with Gun Safari about this deal. Nitecore was displeased with the discount and low price. Other dealers complained Gun Safari was selling these lights at near dealer cost for them. I have no idea how they could do it or how they continue to. In the end Gun Safari was banned from the site. Most of the guys I know who picked one of these up have had nothing but good things to say about the light. Gun Safari did have some issues getting the lights out in a timely manner but that was the only complaint I heard of. Each time I buy a light I hope if there is a problem the dealer will work with me because dealing with China and international shipping is not my hobby. I have never had to and would be downright angry if our situations were reversed. I hope things work out for you.......and in our lifetime. Good luck.

Best of luck, mrwolf! This situation you are in would have me at my wit's end by now.

Well isn't that special? They banned Gun Sarari from their fourm because what? they gave THEIR customer a good deal........Just goes to show you that the lights really are NOT expensive, rather it's the very high mark-up on items Made In China, lets face it it's made in China period...we all know how cheap labor is over there. Why do you think Apple makes their stuff in China too......because Apple gets to put all that huge profit in their own pockets since they control the product & market.

So I guess the other dealers are pissed that GS didn't take the MSRP and sell it at that, I'd still bet you GS is making a profit based on a concept lost to some dealers, it's called VOLUME. What the other dealers are really mad about is anyone that knows about GS's price will never buy it from the other dealers, and thus they will not have too many sales.

Nitecore IS a Chinese Company and the product is Made In China with cheap labor, R&D, etc They are NOT SureFire. They are trying to ACT otherwise though.

+1

It very clear that “Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price” has been replaced by Dealer’s Imposed Retail Price and CPF is their kingdom.

Greed and tyranny always leads to self destruction.

Yes, as far as I can tell. Nitecore and other dealers complained. Gun Safari stopped advertising or making references to the discount code but left it active. At that point it was word of mouth to pass along the discount code. The other forum banned them anyway. The code took $110 off the light and they offered free shipping. There is little chance I would have or could have paid the $260 other dealers were asking for the TM-11 but $150 made it reasonable enough for me to pull the trigger on one. Other folks had bought one, confirmed it was the latest version, and this was a legit deal. Even with that I had my doubts. I am still not sure how they did it. I am also not sure if the deal is still going on or if they charge MSRP now. I absolutely love the light and don't regret buying one for a minute. After reading the OP's post I feel even more lucky.
