Is there anyway if we take a count of interested members that astrolux would consider producing pocket clips for this light? I know it couldn’t “snap on” like say a traditional “o-brand” clip does. But I’ve put some thought into a design that would work, similar to how I modified my d4v2 to take a fw3a clip. It would be possible.
I would buy 4, if not more. I know we are talking a low cost/ low sell item, but I had to ask.
Please consider! And thanks again for this awesome deal.
I would be interested in at least 2 x pocket clips. As I’d like one for my MF01 Mini.
Both the Mini and EA01 have recesses below the tail cap (sadly not quite the same size on both). But I assume would be suitable for a snap on clip fitment.
Good call about that recess, and I would like a fifth then for my mf01 mini as well. The snap on clip could work too, would be an easier design as well. My thoughts on a fw3a style clip (screws down with tail cap) is a washer is included with the clip that fits in the tail cap, only 1-2mm wide that is the same thickness as the clip’s “band” that ensure contact from the battery tube to the tail cap. This is what I did for my d4 and it works completely ok. I like the style clips that screw in with tail cap, and if there is any gap in the threads between the tail and battery tube an print can be used.
Is (4) xhp50 in this size light way too much of a novelty? I am really torn on spending $70 right now to buy the mt04… I keep comparing the output abs features To the anazing mf01 mini and am going back and forth to spend the $$
Honestly I don’t know. But having played about with the Lumintop FW21 Pro which has 3 x XHP50.2 I really don’t think it is worth it. The MF01 Mini is a way better out doors light. I’m guessing 4 x XHP50.2 would have no beam distance at all and just be a lot of heat for too much light close up.
I think people get too easily suckered in by the lumen numbers.
Honestly, i really appreciate this feedback. I also have the fw21 pro and actually was comparing the two head sizes a couple minutes ago. They’re the same. I think it will just be way to hot, maybe to the point of causing issues for the electronics or just simply unusable. And I agree about being suckered into the lumen count. That was why I was trying to justify it! But it’s crazy, it’ll only be that bright for 10-30 seconds and it’ll be to hot to use I’d imagine. And I really don’t have any need for the sst40 version either because it will probably be the same as the mf01 mini, without aux lights and good cri. So yea… thanks chicken drumsitck
The quad XHP50 is more of a “novelty item” for sure. From practical perspective I dont really see a reason why I would need one. Not only the XHP50’s have one of the ugliest tint shift from all LEDs, having four of them in such a small host would mean miserable heat handling. To reach any decent distance one would need running it in high mode, meaning poor battery life. Why not to go all out and make one with quad XHP70?
