My Vapcell S4+ Analyzing Charger photos and observations

Does that work in all modes such as capacity test. And when capacity test starts discharge do I need to do it again for 1a discharge

And are all 4 slots capable of 3a charge and 1a discharge. And thank you for taking the time to help me. Jim

Yes, max of 3a/slot X 4 slots.

That’s 2 questions in one.

As tatasal mentioned, all 4 slots can do 3A charge current.

But only slots 1 & 4 can do 1A discharge current, while slots 2 & 3 (middle) can do 500mA discharge current.

While on Capacity Test mode, it seems the S4 Plus automatically selects the discharge current to use (I’m not sure if it depends on the selected charge current, or maybe the IR measurement, since for Capacity Test mode, only the Charge current is user selectable, assuming in “Manual” mode; the Discharge current is automatically chosen by the charger).

However, one can manually set the Discharge current when using the “Discharge” mode (outer 2 slots max 1A discharge current and middle 2 sltos max 500mA discharge current).

I think mine just blew up. With one battery in channel one, it showed all four channels charging, and there was a burning smell. I have turned it off

That sounds very close to my misfortune with my Vapcell S4+ only 10 months old, good luck trying to get it replaced under warranty……

I had an AAA battery blow up in ch4 and the charger developed issues after that, which does d not end well. I suspect the battery going bang damaged things.

I only used mine to charge the 18650,21700,26650 and one day it just refused to work and died.
When power is applied the screen back light comes on very dim and you can not see anything that is normally displayed,
when i insert a battery in any of the slots the display turns a little brighter and when viewed from an angle i can see a very dim outline of the functions,
however there are strange things happening, no matter the slot i choose using one battery the charger never shows the proper slot information where the battery is inserted it shows that there is nothing in that slot but it shows 1 or 2 different slots without any battery in them that these slots are charging.
When I insert 4 batteries everything goes blank even the dim back light goes out.

I purchased vapecells4plus, and it works very well. The only issue is that batteries must be put in correctly. To get accurate readings.

I really wish the sound it makes when a cell is finished charging could be turned off, it drives my dog nuts.

I don't think it is supposed to make a sound.

Mine gives 7 or 8 fairly loud beeps when cells are finished charging, and the reviews I read (including HKJ’s) before purchasing it mentioned it as well - if it weren’t for the great performance in every aspect it would seriously make me consider using something else.

Maybe it doesn’t do that in manual mode? I’ll test it tonight.

Mine beeps about 5 times when finished changing and thats it. So mabey something wrong with yours or something wrong with mine

I’ve never counted the exact number of beeps but otherwise that’s… exactly what I described mine as doing?

It's supposed to beep when charging is complete.

Okay, good that mine is doing what it should but I really wish there was a setting to disable the sound. This is the only charger I’ve even heard of having any sort of audio feedback.

The xstar dragon peeps to

Aside from the Vapcell S4 Plus, the Liitokala Lii-600 also beeps (10 quick beeps) after finish charging. Both don’t seem to have user-configurable way to disable the beep sound though.

The SkyRC MC3000 and Xtar Dragon VP4 can also beep on finish operation/charging, but sound can be configured to disable sound.

Personally, I didn’t seem to get too bothered by the audio feedback for charging completion — maybe because in my area, there is a lot of ambient sounds and I’m already de-sensitized… (I suppose my flashlight beamshot videos can attest to that — there are always lots of background noises around my place even at night…)

I personally find having audio feedback (after finish chargng operation) to be good, since I can know that the charger has finished charging even when I’m not looking at it. Although, I understand that depending on the scenario, maybe those beeps may be a little bit bothersome for others…

So far, I only know these 4 chargers with audio feedback, are there other chargers that also have audio feedback after charging operation? (I can’t remember if the previous Lii-500S also has beep sound after finish charging…)

Has anyone tried to open up the device and physically remove the buzzer?

I would try that with almost any electrical device except a li-ion charger. The consequences of something going even slightly wrong are just too high, especially with my (low) level of skill and knowledge.

…also microwaves. Do not screw with microwaves because they will find 10 different ways to kill you before you’ve even gotten a decent look at the internals. :open_mouth:

Yes. I opened up my Vapcell S4 plus and desoldered the buzzer. I don’t recommend doing this. It’ll probably void any warranty.
