I had an AAA battery blow up in ch4 and the charger developed issues after that, which does d not end well. I suspect the battery going bang damaged things.
I only used mine to charge the 18650,21700,26650 and one day it just refused to work and died.
When power is applied the screen back light comes on very dim and you can not see anything that is normally displayed,
when i insert a battery in any of the slots the display turns a little brighter and when viewed from an angle i can see a very dim outline of the functions,
however there are strange things happening, no matter the slot i choose using one battery the charger never shows the proper slot information where the battery is inserted it shows that there is nothing in that slot but it shows 1 or 2 different slots without any battery in them that these slots are charging.
When I insert 4 batteries everything goes blank even the dim back light goes out.
Mine gives 7 or 8 fairly loud beeps when cells are finished charging, and the reviews I read (including HKJ’s) before purchasing it mentioned it as well - if it weren’t for the great performance in every aspect it would seriously make me consider using something else.
Maybe it doesn’t do that in manual mode? I’ll test it tonight.
Okay, good that mine is doing what it should but I really wish there was a setting to disable the sound. This is the only charger I’ve even heard of having any sort of audio feedback.
Aside from the Vapcell S4 Plus, the Liitokala Lii-600 also beeps (10 quick beeps) after finish charging. Both don’t seem to have user-configurable way to disable the beep sound though.
The SkyRC MC3000 and Xtar Dragon VP4 can also beep on finish operation/charging, but sound can be configured to disable sound.
Personally, I didn’t seem to get too bothered by the audio feedback for charging completion — maybe because in my area, there is a lot of ambient sounds and I’m already de-sensitized… (I suppose my flashlight beamshot videos can attest to that — there are always lots of background noises around my place even at night…)
I personally find having audio feedback (after finish chargng operation) to be good, since I can know that the charger has finished charging even when I’m not looking at it. Although, I understand that depending on the scenario, maybe those beeps may be a little bit bothersome for others…
So far, I only know these 4 chargers with audio feedback, are there other chargers that also have audio feedback after charging operation? (I can’t remember if the previous Lii-500S also has beep sound after finish charging…)
I would try that with almost any electrical device except a li-ion charger. The consequences of something going even slightly wrong are just too high, especially with my (low) level of skill and knowledge.
…also microwaves. Do not screw with microwaves because they will find 10 different ways to kill you before you’ve even gotten a decent look at the internals.
Seriousness aside, I personally have no problem with a charger buzzer. I have a hearing damage that weirdly does not let me hear that certain buzzer frequency.
My family always complain whenever I use my iCharger, and Vapcell. It also buzzes when it’s Done…making them go crazy watching me having no reaction to it!
Though I can hear it if I only put my head, or ears, just a few inches away from the charger.
Yeah, but you know it is just a buzzer, unless it is monitored if it buzzed or not (which I would doubt it is).
Now regarding a li-ion charger, look at that reflow on the 3.3uH inductor, quite weak for a li-ion charger, twisted a bit more and you have a short, would not be bad a take the heat gun and correct it.
