Best portable flashlight ~30$

You can see the archived poll results on the Wayback Machine:

If you mark “Other” then please write here to add this to the poll!

For a general EDC, cant beat the good old BLF A6 or a Convoy S2+ low cost great performance.

Even BLF GT can be considered portable.

Noctigon kr1 sorry didn’t see the under $30. Then I will say Sofirn sc31 pro

I voted for Sofirn SC31 Pro because it's similar to the FW3A, which is over the $30 budget (but what I carry.)

Who are you? Just registered on forum and already opening polls. First off all read forum for a half year or so then ask.
What is portable? Smallest? Best for what? Thrower, flooder, EDC….? Eficiency? Light quality?

Sorry, but this member, as any other member, has the possibility to open polls independently of the time of registration. This is not as other forums where you need to have seniority to be able to say “Hi!”.

So, I’d say that it’s better to stop with this kind of hostility…
If anyone can say something like what you said is the forum owner and administratior sb56637 .

It is a bummer, though, because, as G0OSE mentioned, there is a poll open for the people to vote in the Old Lumens Contest People´s Choice 2020 .

So, if by any means it is possible to put the OL Contest voting on the side of our page again, without erasing this poll, it would be great.

Agreed, no need to be quite so harsh - but, new or not - they can read, they can see the date it was posted, and they can see the ‘1 week’ bit.
That said, there is nothing to say ‘do not remove’ or ‘no new polls for a week’ - I think it is possible to lock it in though, the exact same thing happened last year if you remember lol! Bad timing is the main villain here :smiley: I am sure sb will sort it. :+1:
Generally polls (IMO) shouldn’t be used for selecting ‘personal’ items though, ie, what light to get/what is best - that sort of thing should really be in a regular post, but that is just my opinion. There are certainly no rules against it - more of a etiquette thing, and that is on any forum, not just here.
Also those lights are so different, it’s not a very good question anyway - unanswerable really, without more details on what they want it for. Also taste plays a big role in choosing, no matter what suggestions pop up.

…kind of hostility?…, Noo , that’s a friendly advice how to become a better person :smiley:

Hi there zamachowiec, sorry I had to disable the poll, because right now we’re running the annual People’s Choice poll for the Old Lumens Contest, and we need that poll to appear in the sidebar. After that’s over I’d be glad to reactivate your poll. Sorry for the hassle.

Yup, I remember what happened last year :stuck_out_tongue: It was something similar, so I hope sb can put this new one on hold and show again the OL poll.

About the question and the poll itself, I do agree that some research is worthy before making the question. I did that before making my first post back then.

I do think, however, that there are no rules for new members posting polls or not. Therefore, for me, the way those questions where placed are not as pedagogical as people like to be on BLF… But to each their own… :beer:

You also have no idea how much research they might have done before becoming a member. I myself visited this site (and others) quite a bit before signing up.

Hard to beat the IF25a and Sc31Pro. Just pick whether you want more output and high CRI or slimmer for pocket carry.

Great poll on the sidebar now, list of names with no question or context :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably should be an admin flag to prioritize or just to even put a poll on the sidebar.

@sb56637
Sorry for the confusion, I didn’t saw information that I shouldn’t open poll. Don’t reactivate this poll after your “People’s Choice poll”, better will be if you delete this.

@MascaratumB
I made a lot of research but there is a lot of good options so it’s hard to choose one. I thought it will be good idea to do poll to know what are other people choices, it’s easier to choose one answer and see the results than reading topic, for future users too. But as I see I was wrong.

@G0OSE
Sorry but I’m propably blind not seeing information that I shouldn’t make a poll this week. I thought it’s topic like some other but allow you to choose, without writing so I thought I will get more response. Again, I was wrong.

@nobody
I did some research too so it’s why I can’t decide which one should I take. Thanks for understanding.

@buck91
Thanks for answer, I think I will go for IF25A.

@Quadrupel
Yes, I’m nobody because I’m newbie in flashlight world and this forum. Especially for you I will stop posting on forum before reading it full but I think even after that “I won’t be equal or better person than you” :wink:

As for me, there is nothing wrong doing the question :wink:
And I guess the poll is also legitimate (despite the differences between each flashlight), but since there was an ongoing poll with limited time for voting, it was the “timing” that messed up a little bit!

I do hope you can get a flashlight that suits your needs the most!
And…don’t stop reading or posting if you don’t want to :+1:

Exactly what i was thinking!

Forget your notion of “poll etiquette” How about some for just posting on the forum?

There’s nothing to read for those who don’t know what your getting mad about. Not even a link to the thread from the poll.

Only thing clear is who not to vote for :beer:
