Zebralight refunded my order? (No explanation)

Not sure what happened here. I ordered a SC700D and it was on back order. That’s not unusual, so I gave it some time. Yesterday, after a couple weeks, I just e message just inquiring when they think it might be back in stock/ship. I didn’t get any response yet, but late last night/early this morning I just got a refund notification from PayPal. I have no idea what happened. I didn’t ask for a refund.

Did you read the new update on their website:

if you are, then i’d email them and ask.

I assume you are outside of the US ? If that’s true then that would be the reason they announced end of last year starting 2021 they would only be accepting orders and shipping to US addresses only.

Not outside the US. I’m actually only about 150 miles from Zebralight

I’m just really sharing what happened so it’s out there as a “weird occurrence” with Zebralight. I will of course update when I learn more.

Could be a discontinued product, but that does sound odd to cancel and refund I would contact them and inquire about it.

IMO, Zebralight does not seem like a stable company any longer. Shutting down international orders is a huge red flag. Another is the elimination of popular models, no updating of their MkIV models in over 3 years, and almost no lights available from other distributers. Also, supposedly shutting down their Texas location (reported elsewhere).

You got your money back. That’s the good news. Personally, as much of a fan-boy as I was in the past (and I still love their lights), I wouldn’t buy any lights from Zebralight even if I could.

Just a data point, I ordered a SC600Fd IV Plus on Jan 2 from the zebralight website, it shipped on Jan 4 and got here yesterday.

12/24: ordered 2x sc64w hi, 1x h600d, 6x NCR18650GA. pretty sure some of that stuff was 'backordered'.

1/8: order shipped

1/11: order received

sorry they canceled your order. my guess is some CS moron misread your message and thought you were asking for a refund.

Perhaps. But I’ve asked and at this point no response or explanation at all. We will see.

Not sure how popular the SC700D was. Maybe they were considering to discontinue it around the same time you ordered one

Supposedly they will be using overseas retailers since international shipping drives up costs considerably for both them and consumers. The “elimination of popular models” is because the LEDs they use (XHP 35 HD and HI) were discontinued months ago…

Word is the next lights they release will be significantly different in many ways to previous models. Waiting to release them rather than simply launching more iterative versions with few changes for it’s own sake isn’t something I can find fault with personally

I’ve always had fast responses from them. Of the several lights I have from them, the 700 is the only one I don’t enjoy as much as I expected. Great to use at work though , looking into concrete trucks to check slumps is why I kept it. Sc64w hi is i think the supreme edc. I also have the le and a 4k headlamp that’s very good. If they go under I pray to the light gods intl outdoors takes their spot.

I emailed them asking if they are planning to cease operation. Tired of rumor. Plus I’ll order a backup to my 64w hi.

If true, that’s good news. Where did you get that info? Anywhere I’ve looked they seem completely silent on matters.

I’ve got a word from Arjan@Nkon that they will restoci all models within next 3 weeks. He didn’t mention any details nor i’ve asked. But EU dealer will get them for sure.
Let’s wait and see what they (ZL) will launch.
