Thank you zoulas ! The effective beam of the sst40 really has the same effect as a small sbt90 thrower, just with half the lumens, but much better color.

How do they compare at distance and closer up. I’m really liking the SST-40 version I’ve got. But kind of curious how the XHP50 looks too.
Here is one comparison I took last night, not great but shows the difference on flood. Doesn’t show difference in distance. I’d say the is a visible 30%-ish difference in usable throw. Xhp50 is really worth it, I think all things alconsidered I like it more. Give more usable light with still good throw. Only thing I don’t like about xhp50 is the color.
Note- the road (@ end of driveway) is approximately 50 meters out

Thanks for the beam shots. I like the 50 as hot spots are distracting for walking. My FT03 SST40 is a great thrower but I can’t get used to using it for everyday light.
Agreed to both of you. Xhp50 is better daily light.

I ordered (last week) a 5000k xhp50 s11 from Simon… I didn’t even know that 3000k, 4000k abs 5000k existed til then. I’m probably going to try and take the 5000k from the s11 and put it into this ea01.
Also, once 5000k or close is back in the Ec03 I will be ordering one

I am not sure you could use the XHP50 from Convoy S11 in the EA01. S11 could be 6V not 3V as EA01.
Ahh, ok. I was wondering if that was the case because I have literally not seen those cct xhp50.2 Andy where else. But that would totally make sense. Thank you for that info! Because I would t have known there was a boost driver in there and the led was 6v and i would’ve tried swapping them. Glad I mentioned it so someone caught it :+1:
the production of quad xhp neutral version in all colours will start sadly again after the chinese new year……this period is a the nighmare of all flashaholics:)

Reason- I want to reflow a different led into one of mine and I went to loosen the bezel and heard a “crunch” type of noise, and then stopped and haven’t proceeded since, I was worried I’d east her break one of the TIR optics legs or ruin the wiring on the MCPCB. I have no idea what it’s going to look like once the bezel and optic are removed bc you have no view on the board with The optic in place.
No one opened it up yet? Weird... Yep, I'll definitely try, just need a working coupon code. I never looked much at this light because of the optics, but from the reports here, looks like the optics/beam and throw are pretty decent. Just gotta decide SST-40 or XHP50.2, and hoping the gray will still be available. Wish they had it in green though.
Ohhh - ship before Feb 4th now, depending on choices...

It is to open and at least mine has not taken any damage.
The bezel is holding a glas lens, underneath a white o-Ring, followed by the TIR.
The TIR has 3 feet sitting in 3 holes of the MCB to avoid rotating.

Thanks Tom! Glad you were able to get one to ship a little sooner too. The blue is really nicely done, but I’m with you on the green. Astrolux does nice greens too. Btw just ordered a d4s in green, can’t wait!
