I too carry a 2AAA penlight as my edc. My current fav is a Pelican 1920. I have the single AAA version of your 007 and it is decent but doesn’t really compare to the quality of the Pelican or Streamlight lights. They are only a couple of bucks more but are well worth it.
I also believe the Pelican or Streamlight lights are better quality, but they sit up out of the pocket.
The reason I took the Tank, was the clip. It sits right up at the end of the light, so that when the light is in a pocket (button down flap, guard pockets), you can't see or notice the light is there. It's totally covered, due to the flush fit in the pocket. That's a requirement. Nothing showing except a clip, for lights, pens, etc.
I carry this flashlight in my handbag, it is attached to one of pen holders in by bag. I have removed the extension tube and use with one 10440 battery.
would this light be better with a Q3 emitter? I was looking at the DX site and it looks like I could order this light and another small light with a lanyard that has a q3 emitter but is single cell. Would it work to interchange the parts and have a 2AAA Q3? If this would work my thoughts are to make the light I want and give the other to my wife for a keychain light.
The more I think about this the more I think both lights might not be a bad thing… unless I can find the cree in a 2AAA model too… I now understand why they say BFL doesn’t save you money.
Unless they’ve changed, the threads are compatible.
The Cree version had far superior ano, brilliant knurling, good throw, and overall superior build quality.
I could put the TK-703 next to my nitecores, fenixes, etc, and it wouldn’t look like a budget light.
Personally I would go with the Cree version using a 10440 lithium ion battery and carry a spare, rather than buying both lights.
I think both emitters are fine the ssc was usually a bit warmer tint . You just missed cheap single AAA versions in red at aurabuying for like 6$..I didn't buy them either ..or the 10 Jacob a 60's ...ooops !
I did some research and in an ideal world… and assuming that both the numbers and my math is right… the difference in actual light output is negligible but the runtime is about half on a single cell. I ordered the 2AAA version and I’ll just keep an eye out for the cree models to go on sale.
I got the red version of this E06. The body of the flashlight has two different shades. The anodization of the color was not done evenly. I can tell that the body is made of 4 different parts…
