FireflyLite E12R 12*emitters 15000LM 1x21700 Flashlight

Mark M, you have very nice collection of new flashlight! I think many people are interested in the driver design of the NOV-MU and new fireflies flashlight because you are first few to receive, and the new Noctigon K9.3. If you have time, can you do quick review and comparison of the flashlight and the new driver? It seem like fireflies has a new driver that is not seen before with charging and buck, but K9.3 has double channel but is linear but no ACM1735. It is exciting new year for flashlight!

you are right. Jack just post photo of new flashlight on the facebook group! The dark green look very nice in my opinon but maybe the red and blue look a bit too ‘bright’.

Apologies for incorrect info above. This is the blue E07X

That’s some picture, until you look close, it looks like an under water monster.

Are those 26650 based?

This thread has the info on different battery sizes.

Thanks for your response.
If you could only have 1 T9R, would you pick the SBT90.2 or the W1? Preference between the two?

I would probably pick the SBT90.2, I think for me it is the better general purpose beam, I love having that extra spill and more loosely defined hotspot, plus it is collimated much closer to the flashlight so the beam is useable at very short distances the W1 has a donut hole 16 inches away. The W1 does also have some minor rings from the reflector, the SBT90.2 doesn’t have this issue.

Is it worth the $50 price premium?

Normally I would say no, but with this driver I do think it is worth the extra $50. 6 amp current regulation really makes the SBT90.2 shine. If you are looking for the longest throw go for the W1, it has a nice tint, not super cool until you go into turbo. But the SBT90.2 fits my needs better and 1800 lumens with current regulation is great and 4000 lumens with the FET.

I see you say the charging work with USB PD, does that mean ‘USB C to USB C’ cable? Do you know if K9.3 also work charging with PD? I read many light need USB A to USB C cable to charge so this is good finding.

It will charge with USB C-USB C and USB A - USB C, so virtually any charger type will work! The K9.3 works well with USB PD and standard USB just like the new Fireflies flashlights. I did look at the drivers in the T9R and NOV-Mu a bit and noticed loneoceans selected a Texas Instruments BQ25616 to handle the USB charging. It looks like this TI controller supports USB OTG with a built in boost converter capable of 1.2A charging, but the flashlights do not support this mode. It looks like maybe pin 6 was left disconnected to the TI chip (but it is hard to tell without pulling out my microscope), I wonder if there is a way to pull the pin high and get it to work… or if there was a reason the feature was left out.

Mark M,

What kind of defects the T9R reflectors, plating discoloration (streaks) or contamination (crap stuck on the plating) ?

They are metal, correct?

Can someone please supply FF Jack email addy?

The FF contact page does not function for me… and I don’t use FB

Thx

One reflector has very minor plating contamination, it looks a bit like paint over spray but VERY minor and not noticeable in the beam (actually my K1 reflector came in worse condition). The other reflector has a minor scratch that looks to be from assembly. There are a few rings in the beam of the Osram W1 and I am not sure if that is coming from the reflector, I think it is though. The rings have a diffraction pattern to them like it is from the reflector not being perfectly smooth. They appear to be metal.

ff-light@hotmail.com

I plan for SBT90 so hopefully rings won’t be an issue

Sounds like a micro texture may have been in order. It’s hard to plate into deep reflector wells like T9R

How do you like UI ?

Thanks for address!

…and for photos. Desert tan is pretty cool color kinda has bronze-ish appearance

The reflector appears smooth but you can see some “stepping” from the machining so I do think better reflectors would help the rings, but the focus is tight and the beam shows it, and that is what matters.

The new version of Anduril is great, a bit of a learning curve for sure and I have the diagram ready to view on my phone, but no complaints.

Got it, machine rings couldn’t polish out smooth

Yeah for sure have Jack send better samples

Ha! Did same on my phone in past
