New Fireflies T1R Mini Thrower-- Release date 25th Jan

I make fast comparison with T1R (left) and GT nano (right)

Led: same CULNM1TG
Lumens: 1000 vs 450
Candelas: 125000 vs 23400
Thorow: 700m vs 300m
Battery: 22430/18350 vs 10180
UI: Anduril 2 vs Narsil
Size: 79 x 37 x 26.5mm vs 24 x 52.5mm (head size much bigger)
Dirver: 6A buck vs 2.5A TA FET
Charging: 2A USBC vs (no detail but can charge)
Weight: 78g vs 17g

The gt nano is much smaller but T1R should last much longer and brighter.

This light is much closer in size to the GT Micro. Micro is 36 mm head x 105 mm length.

Wouldn’t a 16340 cell offer completely rubbiush runtimes though. So much so that it would make a high output or long distance light pointless with such a power plant.

Jack confirmed this light will be released next week. Also that the T1R will be available in Red, Green, Blue and black anodized color options.

I wasn’t too excited about this light at first, but seeing the size of the T9R, now I want to see it’s price to see it’s it’s worth being my first mini-thrower. Hopefully it’s in the KR1 price-range so it becomes a no-brainer.

Update: 2021/1/17

Fireflies T1R pocket thrower will be ready for sale on 25th.

I am happy to finally see some production pictures and I like the green but I think the red and blue are a bit too ‘bright’! May I know what it is the cost? I like the size and I think it is ideal match for small led with small flashlight. You have interesting battery choice of 22430 but unfortunately it is uncommon to buy. The optic look like a special double reflection optic, can you please share more information? Very interested to see some review soon!

Price range?
Thank you

Could not figure out yet, if I actually need these, but they are lovely to look at (TIR optic is also a big plus).

The TIR optic and multiple battery tubes makes this one a buy for me.

Are you sure that driving the emitter that hard (6A) makes sense?

Because as you can see above, even with much better cooling the brightness is almost flat between 5,5A and 7A. Going down to 5,5 or 5,3A would net pretty much the same brightness and throw while using 15% less energy (longer battery life, less heat etc).

LED4Power tested the 5Q flux bin. FF was able to procure the higher 6Q flux bin. Not sure if the 6Q would max out at a higher amp since it hasn’t been tested.

Yes, they’d max out at the same current and a slightly different brightness.

Are these for sale now?

It doesn’t quite look like it yet - All I get is a “Send Inquiry” button:

I’m super excited for mine to arrive though (courtesy of the Old Lumens Challenge prize)

Are the two holes on the tail cap for a pocket clip? Does the light include it? I hope so.
Does the 21700 tube come with the light? I have the fireflies eo1 osram and it’s a tiny bit smaller head… 2 mm. And the eo1 does not come close to the 125kcd that this new t1r supposedly does. Maybe only 35kcd. Good job if these numbers are accurate.

I think the tube will be an add-on. I asked if it was included with my prize (and was hopeful I’d be able to tag it on in the same package if not) but didn’t get a response :frowning:
I wouldn’t expect the numbers to be much different from what other manufacturers have come up with using the Osram and TIR combo. Though from the reports of the Acebeam, I’m not sure what the actual numbers there are.

I don’t think there’s a pocket clip those look to be for a lanyard.- looks like it is for a clip, see below

At least based on this cropped image from the OP, those holes appear to be threaded. I’m guessing you’d screw a clip on there?

On their website it says, With stainless steel clip but it doesn’t show a picture of one.

I like the removable tail magnet and 21700 extension

Im ready to order Army green!

It said available Jan 25th and it is the 26th and I don not see where it is available yet.
