FireflyLite E12R 12*emitters 15000LM 1x21700 Flashlight

Can someone please supply FF Jack email addy?

The FF contact page does not function for me… and I don’t use FB

Thx

One reflector has very minor plating contamination, it looks a bit like paint over spray but VERY minor and not noticeable in the beam (actually my K1 reflector came in worse condition). The other reflector has a minor scratch that looks to be from assembly. There are a few rings in the beam of the Osram W1 and I am not sure if that is coming from the reflector, I think it is though. The rings have a diffraction pattern to them like it is from the reflector not being perfectly smooth. They appear to be metal.

I plan for SBT90 so hopefully rings won’t be an issue

Sounds like a micro texture may have been in order. It’s hard to plate into deep reflector wells like T9R

How do you like UI ?

Thanks for address!

…and for photos. Desert tan is pretty cool color kinda has bronze-ish appearance

The reflector appears smooth but you can see some “stepping” from the machining so I do think better reflectors would help the rings, but the focus is tight and the beam shows it, and that is what matters.

The new version of Anduril is great, a bit of a learning curve for sure and I have the diagram ready to view on my phone, but no complaints.

Got it, machine rings couldn’t polish out smooth

Yeah for sure have Jack send better samples

Ha! Did same on my phone in past

Are there any discount codes for the Fireflies lights?

There was a brief discount for long term buyers, but that is over and there seems to be no intention yet of another discount code. I think these flashlights offer a lot of value for the price without any discount, if you compare say the T9R to the K1.

You must be the first one to receive them! I’m still waiting for my order. Which emitter did you get for the NOV-MU? Measuring 4400 lumens in the TA tube means it is 5500 lumens when compared to the industry wide inflated lumen ratings. Real impressive for a 22350 10A cell and 95+ CRI.

The tube I received was for a 21700 cell, and I put a 40T in mine for testing the NOV-Mu which yes tested 4400 lumens on my TA tube. This thing can put holes in black paper almost instantly, without optics and the LEDs in a tight pattern, it has serious nut burning capabilities. The tint seems comparable to my D4V2/KR4 mules that have the 4500k E21A.

Thanks for the info.

Isn’t the T9R the same money or more than the K1 though? Curious but what is the ‘extra’ value?

In my mind it is the ability to charge and use the light at the same time. I like being able to use my light on my night stand and charge it. Also some of the K1’s (SBT90.2) use a linear fet vs constant current buck on the Fireflies. I guess my point is, as the battery voltage starts to drop in the K1, output will drop. In true constant current regulation as battery voltage drops, output should be able to stay constant until the circuit can’t regulate anymore.

With both linear and buck the output will drop once the cell’s voltage approach the forward voltage of the LED, probably sooner for the buck actually since they usually have a higher voltage drop. For the SBT the Vf is low (~2.95V) even at 6A, so it’ll only happen at the very end, same for the E12R, NOV-mu thanks to the high number of LEDs.

Aside from that I got a shipping notice yesterday.

The NOV-Mu does not seem to have any reflector or optic . How is that supposed tow work?

It’s made to flood the room, it’s typically called a mule.

Well it’ll just give you a wall of light with not much throw. This means it would also be more efficient as there’s no light being lost while passing through optics. It’s designed for photography and close range use.
If you want something with more throw, the E12R or E07 G2 219B would be a better choice.

I appreciate your answer but I thought photographers use special (expensive) lighting equipment for their work. I never saw a photographer using a flashlight.

It’s a marketing gimmick. I’d never use a flashlight either for photography.

What? I have a Sony A7Rii and have owned many Canon DSLR and I use flashlights for photography a lot! A floody E21A mule is the perfect lighting setup, mounted in a softbox. I have some purpose built modeling lights, but the color accuracy here makes a huge difference. I am not saying I use them for all setups, but they can be useful for taking a quick photo without having a flash mounted, if you are around family as an example. A really good flood setup will take great photos, adding an additional layer of diffusion helps. I also have really large godox flash units that I use, but don’t discount really high cri flood setups being useful in portraiture or taking product photos.
