FF from my examples have been high quality with good value. Hiccups happen.

That would be a nice option to get with the newest FireFlies efficient driver. SST-20 4000K 95CRI is the nicest thrower emitter anyone can get currently (3500K would be also a very good choice).

Also, 3500K is a very good choice for E21A (to be used in NOV-MU).

Some quick measurements using 30t on all three lights. All three lights have the sbt90. From left to right. T9r, ft03s, k1vn90.
Brightness doing simple ceiling bounce at turn on:
T9r- 730 lux
Ft03s- 730 lux
K1vn90- 850 lux

Throw measurements 25 feet away:
T9r- 478
Ft03s- 546
K1vn90- 655

This is not a review. Just my quick take on the light. I haven’t played with the light yet. But so far so good. I like that it doesn’t look like your typical flashlight. The head looks strange how it tapers off smoothly until it reaches the body. The tail cap thread was really dry but fireflies did include a small tube of lube. Finish seems well, no sharp edges. Fits well in hand. And weight distribution is fairly even. I’m still unsure about the switch. It’s kinda hard to explain. There’s not much travel on the switch being you don’t need to press down to far to activate it. And there is barely a audible sound when pressing the switch. But because of the short travel, the switch takes a bit of pressure to press down. Not hard at all, but just different. You guys will see what I mean once your light arrives. Or maybe someone can better explain this.

Thanks for your impressions, how do they compare heat wise? From the shape of the lights I’d assume that the T9R would have the most efficient heat management, and that the driver would create less heat compared to the fet ones.

Is this about the store Brayn Gear. If it is BEWARE. Brayn gear is not on the level. Check out the ROT66 they have in custom lights They have arot66 what they are calling a S50. The light is listed for 219 dollars on sale for 77. Ask them why its a 219 dollar light. Then look at Specifications . Its the old bait and switch.

It shouldn’t. Because it is a thrower.

Please target above 300 kCd intensity with the SST-20 95CRI option.

I’d like something around the size of the TN40 or perhaps a little bit smaller. 4,000 lumens and 6-700kcd with good heatsinking for at least 3-4 minutes of sustained turbo.

PSA for those that don’t read my review: do NOT use long protected cells

Great review! I have the exact light except in black. I put a protected battery in the tube to compare length. I saw it was to long for my liking to screw the rail so on. Very glad I backed out especially after reading the review with the resistor damage by crushing. It specifically says unprotected cells for a reason.

I own several Fireflies, and this one is incredible when you fire up the turbo. For a one called light, it amazes me with its output!

Ok, an update on the “long cells” situation. I noticed a sticker on the accessories baggie that says “To fit 77mm 21700 remove tail spring put it into tailcap.” So I take that to mean if you’re going to use long protected cells that you remove the tail spring (pry it out with small needle nose pliers) and leave the already-installed spacer in the tailcap. Note that that means there’s nothing holding the spacer in besides pressure from the battery and the small driver spring. This did allow a long protected USB-C charging cell to be used. But then there’s not enough spring travel to use a non-protected cell. You should pick whether or not you’re going to use long cells and stick with that decision because removing and installing that spring isn’t very fun.

Is it just me or do SBT90.2 lights tend to have a second, inner hotspot? I’m noticing it in beamshots of the Fireflies T9R and the Noctigon K1, there’s the medium-small hotspot, then another, tiny circle in the center of that that’s quite a bit brighter than the rest of the hotspot. Can somebody with one of these lights confirm or deny?
