BT-C3100 v 2.2 any know issues

Recently bought a BT-C3100, which did not work, so returned it for another one, which also does not work.
Is there any known issues with the BT-C3100 (v 2.2), like a known defective batch?

The Opus has small known issues but no 2 consecutive DOAs.

My (apparently not so popular opinion) is that BT-C3100 is a poor quality charger, it has fan issues, thermal protection issues contacts issues and more....
For the same price (and even less) you can get an equal or better quality chargers.

I agree, Opus looks cheaply made. I would gladly spend more for a better charger.

The MC3000 will the the next one I get.

Do not listen to this guys, who apperently do not own the charger.
I got mine BT-C3100 v2.2 for 2 years, never had any problem with it.Its the best bang for buck out there with a ton of features.I am more than happy with it.Used to have Nitecore D4,compared to the Opus its not worth it.
MC3000 is not worth its money, its hell expensive.
Another good option are the Miboxer chargers.

I beg to differ. I do own the charger and it is cheaply made.

Nitecore D4 is ancient and garbage by todays standard.

Miboxer is quite good.

Vapcell S4+ is also excellent.

Sorry to disappoint you, I do own it. Actually I own 2 units, one of which failed and almost cause a fire in my home.

That Vapcell is too new to be tested.Time will tell if its worth the purchase.
I personally have 2 friends with the same Opus,we all bought it 2 years ago and never had any problems with it.Charges also 21700 unprotected cells, has a lot of features. And i also Vape a lot,so i use this charger pretty frequently,no problems so far at all.

Have one for years, used all the time. My best charger and I have a bunch of them.
Maybe older units were better?
I acknowledge the fan issue. Lube it or replace it with better. I’ve lubed for years, finally replaced.

I recently bought 2 more BT-3100 —I already had 2 —— I’m testing hundreds of cells right now for a powerwall

The 2 I just purchased have fan issues —- The charger will stop and start in the Discharge option due to heat —- The older 3100 had a fan with a resistor to slow it down —the newer models have the replacement fan out of the 3400 —- I replaced the fans in the 2 newer 3100 with the 25 x 25 x 10 delta fan —no more problems

There is a whole other thread on this forum about the 3100— with all the fans issues and power supply problems

I also use a bigger 5amp power supply listed in that thread

The crazy part is my first Opus was a 3400 —— I never had any of these problems with it — here’s one of many threads

I’ve got two BT-3400s and they’re both awesome.

Chris

I just got the Opus BT-C3100 v2.2 and I already hate it
First of all is the fan noise, it makes too much of it for my liking, I have an air purifier that works 24/7 and the Opus is louder most of the times.

I read a lot of reviews on this charger before I got it and always thought that people saying that it shows 10-15% more capacity than the real one are doing something wrong
Well, mine shows 15-20% more “fake” capacity, I tested brand new Ladda AA cells and brand new Murata VTC6 cells and other old cells.

Opus results:
New Ladda AA: 2800 mah
New Murata VTC6: 3237 mah
Old Murata VTC5 (>200 cycles): 2606 mah
It’s also worth to mention that it’s not a heat problem as I run the tests at low current with the same results, the fan did not even kick in
The IR tests are also all over that place

I know that most of the Opus devices do not have these problems but mine does and I will try to return it
I bought it here: https://aliexpress.com/item/32799226539.html

Just doing a BLF search gets you a few of others experiences.

My Opus BT-C3100 v2.0 has been great since the day I bought it. No loud fan issues and I’ve never lubed it. I recall the capacity results may be a little off based on HKJ tests, but they are close enough for me. It will even charge NiMH batteries with 0 volts!

I hope it continues to work for many years to come. But if/when it goes bad, based on all the issues posted here, I’ll be researching for another brand of charger unfortunately. A fan will again be an essential feature.

I've had a 3100 V2.2 since not long after the V2.2 version was made available. It also came with the updated, higher-capacity power supply. I've never had any problem with the 3100. I was aware of the fan issue when I bought it, but the fan has not been a problem. One thing I do to lessen the load on the fan is to stand the charger on end, fan up, to allow natural convection to assist with cooling. The fan seldom runs. I place the charger in the large pot of an old pressure cooker (sans lid) during use so that if there ever were to be a fire, it would be contained inside the vessel.

The ability to adjust termination voltage to 3.7v. instead of 4.2v. for storage charging is also a significant bonus on the 3100 v2.2, at least to me.
