what type of boots do you all wear ?

Danner and Alico make some good stuff.

Atalaia Troller jungle boots. Rubber soles, not polyurethane. My go-to when it rains.

Redbacks all day long when at work. Current pair I’ve had for almost 5 years and still going strong. Easy on, easy off, non slip soles and water proof(after I sprayed them with water proofing spray).

I work in an auto repair shop and on my feet 10+ hours a day on concrete. Walking around 4 miles a day going back and forth from the shop to the office through all the dirt, grease, oil, etc and these are the best I’ve ever had. I change the insoles out every 5-6 months with these and really like them.

I’m on my second pair of Danner Mountain lights. The first pair lasted 15 years, and I got them resoled probably 7 or 8 times before the leather finally gave out. I took good care of them, but I also wore them in an environment where they got wet and covered cleaning chemicals almost every day. I was very pleased with their performance.

I’ll only use my new(er) pair for hiking, so I expect them to last a long, long time.

I work in an office now, so I picked up a pair of Danner Romeos. I’ve only had them a few months, but I’ve loved them so far. Any time I’m not working, I’m probably wearing Chaco sandals whether it’s 10 degrees or 100 outside.

You mean these Romeos? I’ve had a pair for a number of years now, unfortunately with that last I fit between sizes so they were never all that comfy. Otherwise a great little shoe.

Naw, tan “cowboy” duster. Too open at the top, but kept the wind off ya down below. Needed a thick hoodie underneath when it got really cold’n’windy, though. Short of wearing ski-bibs, that kept your legs warm in cold’n’windy weather, too, more than even the thickest down jacket which left ’em exposed.

Was never into the whole school-shooter look.

I know I still got my cowboy boots, though. Big Thing back in high-school, imagine they still fit fine. Not the sissy-fairy kind with the embroidery and pointy toes and tapered heels, but the regular High Plains Drifter type. Those had a nice resounding satisfying thud, too. Pretty comfy, I used to almost live in them.

Still remember, one of the “cool” kids took to wearing his pants inside the boots, trying to set a trend. We normal (well, relatively speaking) kids would snicker and say he looked like he was gonna go work in the sewer or something.

Wolverine Ramparts are recommended by some warehouse workers I know.

I used to get Danner Feather Lights but they aren’t the same boots now that I used to purchase.

Both of these are rather expensive. I used to have a boot “allowance” when I used to work for the state so I didn’t have to pay full price.

Those are the ones! They had them on sale for ~$75 last November, and I thought that was reasonable. Luckily, they seem to fit me really well. They hurt a little the first day, but since then they have been great. They’re nice enough I can get away with wearing them at work, but rugged enough that they keep my feet dry slogging through mud too.

I’ve had a pair of RedWings for a number of years. I don’t wear them every day, probably a day a week. First work boots I’ve had that are comfortable to wear all day and so I’d buy again although they look to have plenty of life in them…
Composite rather than steel toe protection, so they don’t weigh too much. Waterproof …at least enough for my needs.

In terms of boots I go for national production, brand Camport!

Ah European shoes !! I miss traveling and having the ugliest shoes at the meetings!

These are the best insoles I have found for long days on concrete. Do not waste time and money on the other ones, I already have.

Those are great too, I just like the way the little “bumps” on the ones I posted feel on the bottom of my feet lol.

I have had 2 pairs of Danner Acadia’s in the last 15 years or so. They are pricy, but my second pair is still going strong. I know they’ll make it another 4-5 years

Thanks,

lots interesting boots, I also Have some wolverine logger steel toes for yard work

I wear the Rocky S2V Special Ops boots and love them. Light weight and very comfortable on my Pes Planus feet.

Danner Ft. Lewis boots. Insulated. They are almost 20 years old resoled a few times. The first time I took them in to the Portland store after so serious abuse. When they said how much to repair and I paid right there on the spot. There will always be a pair of Danners around my place with the amazing customer service they have.

When I need something lighter I am on my final pair of Kean hiking boots (also insulated.) They no longer make the ones I like. :frowning:

Wide toe boxes are what mater to me these days.

:+1:

I’m not sure how well known they are outside Australia, but Adam Savage (of Mythbusters fame) swears by his Blunnies.

Another Australian brand  although they seem to be catering to the (much bigger) US market with some of their product names (Bobcat, Nevada).

KEEN Utility Men's Warren WP-M. No longer available, I think, either. Now that I don't get in the field that much, I find the most comfortable boots! And with good tread for even slimy, rock stream beds. Hope they last and may repair when the time comes.

Thanks all for sharing your favorites!

Danners.
I have a pair from 1989 and a couple of newer ones.
I recommend if you fly into Portland Oregon, you to go to the factory store and headquarters adjacent to the airport. You can score a deal there on occasion.

I guess the word is out based upon the responses in this thread.
Just get the stitch down rebuildable sole and you’ll be set. They will rebuild them when you wear them out (-min 4-5 years likely YMMV). They get even better on the second sole.

I’m not fond of glue down soles.
