Sofirn BLF LT1 Lantern: Super Clamp to mount anywhere

I have had my impressive LT1 Lantern for less than a week and I’m discovering many ways to mount it.

I purchased from Amazon the SMALLRIG Cool Ballhead Arm Super Clamp Mount Multi-Function Double Ball Adapter.

With this clamp I can clamp it to any desk or pipes etc.

For example, in our RV we have a very small countertop. Rather than rest the lantern on the countertop, I can clamp it securely to the countertop edge off to one side or to the cabinet above. There are locations throughout the RV where it can be mounted at any height and kept out of the way and held securely.

Outside of the RV, I can clamp it to the awning rail, or the back of a camping chair or any 2” lumber.

The ball and socket design lets me tilt it to any angle for best lighting conditions.

Another option for the clamp, is to use it as a “hook”. Just clamp it anywhere you want, and let the paracord from the lantern loop over the clamp.

To get the most out of this flashlight design it should be mounted securely and just the right location and height. It seems the higher I mount the lantern the nicer the light pattern.

Specifications:
The maximum opening of this super clamp is 40mm while the minimum is 15mm.

Good find

Nice thanks for posting I might get one of those.

I think also some of the ‘accessories’ the BLF member recently made a video about include things to direct the light. He got a collapsible silicon bowl, cut the centre out the same size as the lantern top and fitted it like a lamp shade that directs muchore light down like a lamp shade does. He also has a side shade so you can focus the light in the direction you want and not into your eyes. Great idea from the OP, you should watch his accessories video, it gave me some great ideas how to better use this light.

Thank you for your comments.

The YouTube video you mentioned also inspired me to make some accessories.

It is by DBSARLIGHT,
He is one of the designers of the light.

I watched all of his videos and that is why I purchased
the LT1.

If you look at my iPhone holder for the LT1 post, DBSARLIGHT’s accessory video is shown playing on my phone.
iPhone holder for LT1

I’m working on three more accessories I will post soon.
The LT1 is a great light and fun too.

Thanks for your comment.

The Amazon price was in Canadian dollars, about $14 US with free shipping for prime members.

I think I’m going to add a camera quick release plate to the super clamp.
With the clamp I will not have to unscrew the clamp every time.

Something like, $6.99 US eBay

It's a pleasure to know you, mrmccormack!

Is that supposed to be a South Park reference?

It is nice to know you too. Thanks for comment.

Any references to South Park would be a coincidence
I’m not familiar with South Park.

Okay, my bad.

There's a character named Mr. McCormick (with an I) on South Park.

If you've never seen the show, you should probably continue not watching it.

I got one of these based on your recommendation, and it is really neat! I can see myself getting a few more of them.

It works well with a Q8:

And also with other lights:

Thanks for sharing this!

Hey Minocc !

I’m glad you like the clamp, thanks for posting a response.

For a small clamp, they are surprisingly solid and secure.

I never thought of your idea of holding another flashlight with them, that’s a good idea.

So I had to try it out, see pictures below.

I can see this as a reading light, as when I’m trying to read fine print the LT1 is not the best light for me.

I ended up getting another of the double ball clamps, and then a couple more clamps and a magic arm.

I present the “Stick of Sofirn”

A couple of Q8s and a SP36 on a dowel rod.

Looks crazy  (crazy=good)

Love the clamp idea! once i can get back on my feet, i will be back to work on the accessory kit, the LT1M mini, and planned LT2 (name to be discussed) variant. :sunglasses:
