【ツ】Wurkkos TS30 + TS30S Sales Thread - available on wurkkos.com, Amazon & AliExpress

This will be a perfect in between sbt90 size light with my x9L and ft03s!

Is the TS30 battery the same?

The item description on the TS30 indicates it includes Wurkkos 4800mAh 21700, whereas the TS30S includes Wurkkos 5000mAh 21700.

My guess is the 4800mAh 21700 would be the same battery bundled with the Wurkkos HD20 (which includes 4800mAh 21700) — if this is the case, then the Wurkkos 5000mAh 21700 and the Wurkkos 4800mAh 21700 look like different batteries. (I have HD20 and TS30S)

I wonder who is the OEM manufacturer of the Wurkkos 4800mAh 21700 battery though, maybe Lux-Perpetua can help us find out?

My TS30 just arrived, here’s what I got. Don’t have a decent charger/analyser atm so can’t test it.

Edit: just been out for a play and am very impressed. Solid build quality, good weight balance/feel, fast USB-C charging. The tint is lovely and rosy, very bright and pretty good throw too.

Would be great if we could get a new code for TS30 Amazon US, previous code no longer works. Especially with a nice rosy 5000k tint, I’ll need to pick one up!

The 5000K is very nice, clean beam with no / very minimal tint shift and is by far the rosiest LED I have. I hope Wurkkos / Sofirn sell the emitters individually on their store. My previous rosiest was an unknown 219B from an Astrolux A01 back in the day (I suspect it might be a K as it’s much rosier than any other 219B that I own). I’m generally not a fan of overly rosy tints but really like this SST40.

Great to hear you like the light. I’m really on the fence about this light because of my experience with the EC03 with sst40. The deep reflectors created some significant rings in the beam, even outside.

Does the Ts30 with sst40 do this? Rings around beam?

I really like the sst40 5000k tint as well, it’s a really nice neutral. Another quick questions-

Do you notice the tint turns blue when on turbo? I have a different light and that has been happening recently so just curious if it is common.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the light !

Oh I forgot about the EC03, I don’t have one so can’t compare. Seeing as they’re both made by Sofirn (99% sure) my guess would be they look the same (same reflector and LEDs). The bezels look slightly different though so that may have an impact.

Just looking at it again there are some rings I didn’t notice before but this is only indoors or white wall hunting. I can’t say I noticed them outside but I also wasn’t looking for them so it’s probably a non-issue (for me). I’ll have another look tonight.

No angry blue on turbo, same tint all through the brightness range which is pretty unusual (in my experience) for an SST*0.

Thank you for this interesting thread! :+1:
Unfortunately the promo code for the TS30s on Aliexpress is not working.
Is there a chance to get a new code?
Thanks a lot in advance!

This is great info hodor, thank you so much for sharing. Glad to hear there aren’t many rings noticeable outside, outside is all I’m worried about. I don’t do the white wall hunting with these bigger output lights. And glad no angry blue, I’ve just started to notice on some of my higher end, it you will, lights. Thanks!

Not to put you off, but if the ringy beam of the EC03 bothered you then you may feel the same about the TS30. Maybe one of the reviewers will have a video up soon.

You’re probably right. Although I got the impression some of the beam look from the EC03 was a result of the bezel. So maybe If ts30 has a different bezel the rings would be reduced. I may try it as I really like EC03. I wish this ts30 came with a xhp50.2 option too.

Here are some crappy phone snaps. White balance is way off (doesn’t look green at all IRL). The beam has a dark ring between corona and spill (I believe EC03 also has this?) but it honestly doesn’t bother me. There’s also like a halo around the outer most spill which can be seen in the first photo. Again, doesn’t bother me in actual use. YMMV. HTH.

Thank you very much hodor. That beam is very nice, and outside it’s completely good looking.

From what I remember, that beam is much nicer then sst40 ec03, or there was just something off with my old ed03… there was a dark ring around the corona on my ec03 that was very unsightly, even outside. I’m glad to see the beam on ts30.

As much as I love the size and look and colors of ec03, I’ll probably buy this ts30.

Sorry for my late reply here. Wurkkos uses the same batteries that Sofirn supplies with their lights. 18650 batteries come from DLG, 21700 from Lishen and 26650 from PLB (at least the new 5000mAh high drain battery). The 4800mAh battery in TS30 is a different model than the (new) 5000mAh Lishen LR2170SD battery supplied with TS30S. In former times, both vendors used to put a 4000mAh battery in most of their 21700 lights. That one was called Lishen LS2170SA.

The most interesting conclusion is that all these different Lishen batteries do not differ that much from each other when it comes to high currents. They perform quite well up to 10A, maybe even 15A. I recommended both Wurkkos and Sofirn to look for better high drain cells like Molicel P42A or Samsung 50S/40T but so far they keep using Lishen (maybe due to long-term contracts or overstock). I suppose that battery prices are a sensitive topic in a flashlight's sales margin, though.

Can you please check if your sample ramps into the "wrong" direction when set to ramping mode? My sample is acting strangely. While using TS30 I notice that holding the button will not ramp up but down, i.e. the light is getting dimmer first. In order to ramp up I need to press and hold again within 1.5 seconds. This is in contradiction to typical ramping behaviour in any other flashlights. When changing to stepped modes it works correctly. I'm not sure if my sample is affected only or if this is a general firmare bug.

So to confirm, the “5000mAh” battery in my TS30 is actually a 4800mAh?

Huh, hadn’t noticed that, I usually ramp up from moon. I had assumed (incorrectly) it was replicating Narsil behaviour where it ramped in the opposite direction to the last, however I can confirm mine behaves like yours.

Good news is there are some flashing pads so hopefully ours can be flashed with a fix.

EDIT: If you turn the light on, then wait 3 seconds before clicking to ramp it will ramp up.

Thanks a lot hodor. I'm pretty sure you got the new Lishen LR2170SD cell underneath that 5000mAh shrinkwrap. It seems they now supply this battery not only with TS30S but also with TS30. My sample came with the "old" 4800mAh battery. If you want to unleash a bit more power, I would recommend using a Samsung 50S or 40T in both these lights.

Good to see your TS30 works the same way as mine. I doubt that Wurkkos/Sofirn will provide any firmware updates since it's a proprietary UI. Anyway, I will ask Mark after CNY if they could work something out to resolve this little firmware bug. I did not try the "wait 3 seconds" trick yet. Thanks for the helpful hint. :-)

Shouldn’t be difficult to distinguish the 5000mAh and 4800mAh Sofirn/Wurkkos 21700 batteries since they have a different top and bottom design.

5000mAh looks like a triangle top, bottom has a “ring”, is a wider battery, heavier ~ 74 grams
4800mAh looks very circular top, bottom has no ring but has 3 short parallel lines in the bottom center, is a slimmer battery, ~69 grams

The Sofirn 4000mAh 21700 is a bit more difficult to decipher, since I think there may be 3 different types, but their top design looks a bit similar.

one Sofirn 4000mAh 21700 variant has a bottom ‘ring’, wider diameter. (similar to the 5000mAh 21700 diameter) ~ 69 grams
another 4000mAh 21700 variant doesn’t have a bottom ‘ring’, wider diameter. (similar to the 5000mAh 21700 diameter) ~ 69 grams

(I think these two 4000mAh 21700 may be the same battery, just that one was produced with bottom ring and the other has no bottom ring)

and the last 4000mAh 21700 variant, also has a bottom ring, but slim diameter (similar to the 4800mAh 21700 diameter) ~ 67 grams, tested a bit higher capacity actually ~ 4500mAh

(I believe this is a different battery than the other two 4000mAh 21700 battery, based on weight, which I also measured, aside from the above-mentioned differences)

Just ordered TS30S through Amazon US link, thank you Lux Perpetua and Wurkkos! Great discount and really looking forward to this light! I will report back!

Looking forward to seeing your feedback about TS30S, Artiet59. :-) Any feedback, good or bad, is highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide any updated codes for AliExpress etc. during Chinese New Year. We need to wait for Wurkkos/Sofirn to return approx. by February 20, 2021.

Cheers,

Thomas
