I Put Together a Couple of Battery Travel Cases!

With a recent purchase of our Emisar D4SV2s complete with the shorty tubes for 26350 batteries, and the lack of decent options for storing and transporting 26350 batteries, I decided it was time to build it myself! I started with a couple of cases that were Pelican-esque. The Pelican cases available in this size, the 1010 or 1020 series, had integrated silicon/rubber inserts which were also the seal for the case, but didn't leave enough space for foam and batteries. They were removable, but I would have lost the seal in the process, and didn't want to cut it up, as it would have been difficult to look good. So I bought these ones instead, which were admittedly a bit larger than I would have liked, but were going to be easier to get foam into. I then bought some 1/2 inch solid foam, 1/2 inch "Pick-n-pull" foam, and 3/4 solid for the base layer. I messed around with the cutouts a little to find what I was happy with, and these were some of the options that I liked!

Still to do: I want to get some spray adhesive to glue the block layer to the base layer.

Cons: The case itself ended up being a decent size after I played around with layout, but the lid had a weird rubber insert thing as an extra storage spot. It was easy enough to remove, but it left its mounting posts in place, which I'm not fond of.

As a concept I'm happy with it, but I would like to look at more case options moving forward to see what might fit this a bit better, without the weird posts in the top of the lid that I had to work around. The cases weren't super cheap, coming in around $20, and the foam, which was a ton more than I needed, came out to around $30 shipped. I'm in these cases overall for around $25 each, based on the amount of foam that I used.

Let me know what you think!

Looks nice. I also like to organize stuff. This past year I have purchased a number of the B&W International Outdoor cases when I find them on sale or a good price. Mostly it just depends if a manufacturer has the right size case you are looking for.

Wow, I bet those would survive a hurricane or worse. Nice work. :+1:

So close to being a contender! They look like they’re built well enough, but sadly they need one size in between their 200 series and their 500 series. The 200 series is just too thin, and the 500 is too large haha. Thanks for mentioning them though! I hadn’t found that brand previously!

I wish I had found these sooner, this is much closer to the size I was looking for originally, and a better price than the cases that I got. I’ll have to pick one up and give it a shot and see how it goes. I’ll report back with the results!
