I was wondering if anyone is using the LT1 as a video light.
I own many flashlights, but I actually bought the LT1 to try out as a video light.
Modern cameras / phones are great in low light.
I considered the LT1 as a video light because:
High CRI
Color temperature ramp
very soft dimmable diffused light
it can be run from USB power alone
Durability, portability
long battery life
I’m building a portable DIY “ZOOM Meeting” station with the LT1 and my iPhone/iPad
So many ZOOM videos suffer from bad lighting and even worse, bad choice of camera height (the ever popular “up the nose angle”
I also have many lights made for video, some professional-grade lights too.
I find with modern phones, it is often too much light and too “directional”.
If I’m shooting with one of these lights, it is so bright that it is uncomfortable for the talent.
Well, I wonder if anyone has had good luck with the LT1 as a video light.
I’ll share some of my “video light” ideas for LT1 when I finish developing and testing them.
In my tests so far, I agree with your 4,000K setting.
I find any kind of shade behind the light helps a lot. I posted an expensive one, but even a piece of white paper card stock helps. The side mount is great for mounting DIY shades. https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/65275
My DIY “Zoom video station”, will mount the light about 18 inches (45cm) higher than the table. This seems to cast the light in a more natural way, from above.
I’m sorry to hear about the “theft” of your LT1, but on the brighter side, with Valentine’s Day coming up soon, it could be time for another LT1
I steal it back often , we live in a small appartment. It is surprising how often there is use for the LT1 in our little household, even without any camping trips the last year.
For my second LT I’m waiting for the mini version to happen.
