Match's Contest: Guess the Lumens and win a prize!

Congrats to PilotPTK! First post has been updated with the news...check it out!

Congrats PilotPTK! And thanks a bunch to Match for a fun thread . . what a prize!!!

Congratulations to PilotPTK!

And thanks again Match for the giveaway!

If only I'd been born dyslexic and swapped the 0 and 5!

Thanks for the contest, and more importantly the data, Match.

Congrats to the big winner and thanks to Match for the contest and info.

THANKS! Awesome testing Match, and incredibly impressive results. I have to admit that I have a little bit of experience with REALLY well heat-sunk LED emitters, but I am still a bit surprised that you were able to get those numbers out of an XM-L; I thought I was a bit high in my guess. Really awesome!

As for the prize, it's a beauty! Can't say thank you enough!

Next up: XM-L Soldered to a copper slug with the slug bonded to a TEC :) Can't wait for that guessing game :)
(hint: I have a bit of experience with that as well..hehe)

Congratulation to PilotPTK, prize is very nice! Testing directly to copper mounted xml is interesting itself and this contest made it more attractive, thanks Match!

Why not just pour tons of liquid nitrogen (or even liquid helium) on the damn thing, like some PC hardware overclockers do?

Nice pOst. Congrats...

What is a TEC?

Thermoelectric current device.

As a very short explanation - it "pumps" heat from one side to another, resulting in substantial temperature difference between them.

So, for example, if you manage to keep one side of TEC at 30°C, the other side may be as cool as -20°C.

Thermoelectric cooling - Wikipedia - here’s more detailed explanation.

Thanks. :) Didnt know about this abbr.

Congratulations to PilotPTK!

Thanks again Match for the giveaway!

Wow, that's one nice prize! I wish I'd gone with my spur of the moment urge to put down 1500 now, instead of going for the 'sensible option'..

Anyway, congratulations PilotPTK. I hope you enjoy your prize, it really is something special.

A little too late to change now, here's to dreaming though ;)

Congrats, PilotPTK!! You got the best prize ever!

Man, that 3XP-G Mini-Maglite is seriously awesome. That's the best prize I've seen given away so far and it wasn't even the main prize LoL.

Also known as a peltier plate. Match how do you measure the lumens?

essentially the same as changing it to 2...afa the giveaway is concerened :-P

but I'm kicking myself for not guessing 1526 right after pilotptk guessed - this is the first time i'm VERY jealous of a giveaway prize

I know how you feel, I actually joined BLF specifically to contact Match about how much it would cost to purchase one of these from him. But it was just a little out of my price range.
