What you got today

yup, mouser. But do be aware of the non-neutral thermal pad.

I’m aware, thanks! I think it will go into my Jacob A60 that currently has a CSLNM1. This light has an anodized emitter shelf so its perfect. As is, the light is seeing 234kcd running a 12x 7135 driver. I think they are all 350mA chips… But would have to check that. I’ve tuned and measured this light dozens of times so I’m confident in my readings. I’ll report my results with the ‘BFS’ LOL

Convoy M3-C
Ordered BF, came last week.

Today I got my OL Prize bundle, big thanks to PP who supplied me one of his own lights, and very kindly did the proper customs sheet and I didn’t get charged a penny.
I was SO excited opening it I can’t tell you!
Thank you again PP, you are one in a million mate :+1:

Ohhhhh……Nice!!! (green with envy)

Congrats goose , that looks really cool :+1:

The Two Sun somehow reminds me of the Buck Vantage Avid knives, nice shape.

Today I got a 1955 Leitz Ortholux with double lamps, for transmission and epi-illumination, including the Ultropak attachment for the epi-illumination with 11x objective. All in fine shape, well preserved and working well. I bought it via Marktplaats, which is a friendly dutch version of ebay.

It is because my other hobby is collecting cool microscopes. And although I like the antique copper microscopes, I have a few nice ones, nothing compares to what they made in Germany in the fifties and sixties. The Ortholux is IMO the :sunglasses: -est microscope ever built, but thusfar missing in my line-up. Apart from the fact that it is mechanics at its finest, no plastic is found anywhere and all the mechanics still work without play after 65 years, it is not just function, it has a really cool fifties design, and it is a huge plump black thing

I’ll admit I haven’t seen anything like it. Pretty cool indeed!

These seems to be expensive items. Do you collect them or use them professionally?

I collect them. I did work as a technician in a microscopy development lab for 10 years (for who is into these things, the first working confocal microscope was invented by my boss where I worked), but that was over 20 years ago. I paid 400 euro for this Leitz, which is not that much more expensive than the GT4 that I also own  . But microscopes are too big to buy at the same rate as flashlights, given our small Amsterdam appartment, and the “limited :innocent: ” enthousiasm of my wife for my hobbies, I get away with a max of one microscope every two years. And I might have to sell one or two now to make room for the Ortholux :person_facepalming:

Lol @the limited enthusiasm of your wife for your hobby, i think we have something in common

Interesting stuff btw, microscopy

My new beemer after the wife wrote the last one off

Nice!

Thanks :+1: will be even nicer when those wheels are black and a black front grille set :stuck_out_tongue: better wait a while for that though lol, today was an expensive yet very enjoyable day!

How do you plan on making the wheels black? Paint, powder coating, or new wheels? I’m thinking about using this company to powder coat my wheels when my tires need to be replaced: Apex Custom Coating.

Powder coat defo, spray paint is nowhere near as resilient, well unless it’s done really well and numerous coats, then lacquered a few times (much like the body lol) . Pretty certain that would end up much more expensive.
Also you have to think of cleaning, likely wheel cleaner may be used on them semi regularly and I’m not sure spray paint likes that quite strong cleaner.
I see spray painting (not a proper job as I describe above) as a quick fix/time to sell on option to tart the wheels up and cover up damage.

New toy flashlight, $60.00 on Amazon. Looking at upgrading the Hologen bulb to a 12K lumen LED automobile light next. :sunglasses:
The beam sucks badly new, lol, but that was expected.
