I need help with correct size o ring for Jetbeam TCR21

I bought a Jetbeam TCR21 off ebay. It came in good condition but the battery tube was stuck and would not twist to change size from 16340 to 14500 battery capacity.

I tried leather straps and vice grips, freezing, boiling and could not get it to move. A local machinist made brass collars and used brute force to crack it. It turns out some oaf had used copious amounts of red loctite to fill the entire surface between the inner and outer tube!

All is well now, but the o ring that goes between the tubes is destroyed. Does anyone have the TCR21 with the o ring intact and would measure it for me to order the proper replacement? TIA.

So the previous owner used red Loctite or is it possible it came that way and was never interested to be disassembled?

As for the o rings, I think if you by an assorted pack from Amazon, there will likely be one in there.

Here is a 225 pack for 8 bucks,

No, it is not possible it came that way. The part I am talking about is supposed to move, to change the size of the battery chamber.

I would rather get a high quality o ring of the proper size so it will provide the correct resistance to movement and seal the battery chamber from moisture. Trial and error fitting will be the last resort.

The Jetbeam web site has email addresses and phone numbers in case no one on BLF has the info:

Thank you. I have been in contact with Jetbeam in the past via email and they have been helpful, but the lady that answers the emails is not very technical and getting the correct technical information out of her is challenging. Therefore, I prefer to try here first. Also, the information will remain here for others to find and use.

If no one here has the light /is abe to help, I will contact Jetbeam about it and report the answer here so it is available for others.

Mine measures 20mm x 1.2mm.

Probably too late but fwiw

Probably Jetbeam’s fault. I expect the light came with the red threadlocker installed.

The manufacturer that uses the most red threadlocker in my experience is Fenix. They apply a TON of it. Enough that it squirts out both sides of any threads they apply it to. Fenix lights are incredibly difficult to mod due to this.

Thank you jimF for the O Ring size. I was send one that fits from Jetbeam but they could not tell me the size.

Firelight2, this was most definitely not Jetbeam’s fault. There is normally no thread locker in those threads which are supposed to work freely to adjust the length of the battery tube to accomodate either 16340 or 14500 batteries. A previous owner had gone wild with it, for unknown reasons.
