Question about Acebeam battery imr 21700 np-510a

I have this battery, but the little LED on the positive side of the battery is continously green. (when not charging)

Is this normal?

None of my other USB rechargeable batteries has this

I knew I should have checked here first. I have the same problem with my w30 batteries. I heard manker usb batteries have the issue also

I have two of those batteries. On one the light stays on and the other one it doesn’t. I have an 18650 that does the same thing. I saw a YouTube video with the light lit up also on the ace beam battery. I doubt that it uses much power so I don’t worry about it.

It seems there are 2 brightness levels on the battery, the dim constant on and the bright charging level. It seems there would be some kind of parasitic drain with it on all the time

I suspect that it has something to do with the ability to be used as a power bank function through that micro USB port also. I’ll have to check that function on my battery that is not constantly on (dim).

Sorry.. I already got the answer :0

It's normal to have that continously on.

The constant on dim green is definitely related to the power bank function. The one I have that does not have the light on does not work as a power bank. The micro USB can still be used to charge the battery and the green light still comes on while charging. I got that light and battery “used” so I don’t know what testing may have been done prior. It would make sense to have it on if you are going to use it as a power bank just to show that it’s in a somewhat charged state. I’ll do some testing later in the week to see at what voltage the green light goes to something different. I did some limited testing a year and a half ago. I see the new ones now use type C.

So the batteries that don’t have the light on after charging are defective?

I did some more limited testing. The battery that doesn’t have the dim green light when off of the charger cannot be used as a battery bank. It does show red when charging and bright green when fully charged and still plugged in. The other one after being removed from the charger or unplugged does show the dim green light that gets even dimmer very quickly as voltage drops. It is not visible anymore at 3.9 volts. When fully charged I was able to use it as a power bank and take out a little under 0.5 amps. Around 3.85 volts that dropped to 0.3 amps. That’s too little to really be useful so I stopped. But that was using the short little lead that they give you plus a USB tester and another cable. There’s a lot of room for losses there. Maybe it does better now that they’re using type C in and out rather than a micro usb.
