fresh ginger tea

The Birch sap is running. Should be for a few more weeks through the middle of April. I’m using a smaller 1/4 inch polyethylene tube this year about 5 ft long. It is commonly used for running water to an ice maker in a refrigerator so any hardware or Home Depot type store should have 10 ft rolls of it. Drill the hole 1 inch deep in the tree at an angle three feet up on the South side preferably over a large root. Use any common drill bit just a little smaller than the tubing and with a knife just taper the very end of the tubing and push it in a half inch or so. Drill a hole in the cover of any plastic container that you can set on the ground with sticks or rocks to hold it up right. That way no bugs or ants or other things are getting into your container. I prefer the taste of the black Birch but any birch tree will work. Plug any holes with a whittled stick when you are done to keep insects and other disease out of the tree.

Tried a bottle of Goya Malta, or Malta Goya or wtfever it is. Got only 1 bottle, thankfully.

woke up with a cough….

Jose Cuervo Silver. Usually hate “hard liquor”, but put a coupla shots into a glass and added some orange extract (Cook’s).

Ages ago, I had (it came out for like 1yr then disappeared) Cuervo Anaranja or something, their usual tequila but flavored with orange, which I actually liked. Ain’t gonna let a gift go to waste, so figured some extract might kill the taste somewhat. Mmmmm, not really, but it was okay.

Should put this in the “snacking on…” threat, but made more “french bread pizza”. Hero roll, actually. And I overburnt it. Cheese was almost blackened (but amazingly edible!), but the crust on the bottom was definitely overburnt. Hacking off that, made it surprisingly good!

So both together made an… interesting… meal.
