Help needed to identify broken component on PCB

Good morning. I’m new to the forum. I have a problem with the flashlight. I bought through the aliexpres website. It is currently XHP90. I’m having trouble fixing her USB charging driver. Or find the component to replace it. if anyone can help I appreciate it very much.

An “XHP90” does not exist. Throw it away and buy a proper quality flashlight.

A bit, umm… “direct”… but yeah, sound advice.

Lotta these craplights throw in lots of bells’n’whistles, but have crap quality underneath. Eg, the charger might overcharge and fry the cell over time.

If it busted the first time around, it’ll likely happen again. Most people who bought the light would just charge the cell externally and forget it, but…

what are all those pictures supposed to show?

Looks like the main IC in the center of the charge board is fried. If you can pull a part number off it, search digikey or mouser for that part… and try to replace it. Note however if theres a faulty component upstream or downstream of it, then there still is a good chance the replacement part will also cook.

I google searched “LS-P700 charger” and could not find anything….?
I google searched “AL942 component” and all I found were pics for a 6 cyl distributor cap…?

b. you can replace it
c. you can get it
d. you can be sure it won;t just fry again
it almost has to be some kind of generic chip that takes in USB voltage and charges a li-ion cell-i do not think it is part of the LED driver

get another flashlight!

You don’t know what caused the fault. Was it just a bad charging controller? Too high input voltage from a bad power supply? You can’t trust the electronics in the light anymore without checking every component. Repair requires a hot air station to unsolder the controller. And you need a new one. The LED is just some random low quality stuff with a name that should remind of a Cree LED.

You could keep the light as a host for your own modding project. Buy a quality driver that fits the light. Finding one with charging might not be easy and will require some hacking to fit. It will be a lot of work, especially if you don’t have experience with this stuff.

Oh, if you got it with a battery you should be careful with it because you don’t know the quality of it.

@jesse, how many pins are on that damage chip—5 or 6 or is it 3+tab?

No problems. I know it is a low quality product. But I would like to save it or use the carcass to modify it and try to improve it. I am a layman and new to the flashlight industry. I bought it for personal use. Before buying it, I didn’t know the types of LEDs for flashlights. Today I use charging 2 26650 batteries in an external charger, the battery consumption indicator is working and the selection of modes. What does not work is charging via USB.

I have all the necessary equipment for electronic repairs. I work with electronic repairs.

Note: this flashlight comes with 2 18650 or 2x26650 batteries. I chose the 26650. Can you indicate a replacement driver kit? (if possible aliexpress, because for my country it is very difficult to buy from other foreign sites.)

This component have 6 pins.

I suspect it is one of those 3 components.
