Surefire G2X warranty

So after a couple years of excellent service on my structural helmet and then sitting in storage for another year I discovered my G2X tactical was flanking out. Generally I would have to slap it on my palm to get it working. Quick call the surefire for an RMA and a couple bucks to cover my end of the shipping and it was in process.

Replacement arrived about 2 weeks later. Looks like the repaired my existing light and the body is clearly the same one I sent in. Unsure about the tailcap since it was like new as I used a clicky on my helmet. The head appears to have been replaced as an entire unit. Now the one I sent in was the 320lm model. I think it had an xpg/xpg2 but really don’t remember. The replacement is quite bright and actually starts to warm up slightly after a minute, so I figure it must be driven a bit harder. Also, I believe it’s sporting some form of XPL, maybe the HD? Color tint is ok; definitely not angry blue although it is expectedly cooler than I care for. Also interesting that the positive contact is now a spring where it was just a flat board on the old unit.

Kind of surprised they did not replace the head with an identical head. Its nice that they repaired it but this is a contractual agreement they made with you when you bought it.

Yes, it was expected to come back working 100%. I’m actually slightly disappointed it got the new style head. The beam is MUCH floodier and, with the output and heat, it must be pushing the batteries hard and thus lower runtime.

Also, a little disappointed that I had to pay my own shipping back but that’s not necessarily uncommon.

What they did would only be acceptable on a very old light where parts were not available.

Which could be the case. When did they switch from the 320 to the 600 lumen model?

only 2-3 years ago?
