Lumintop Tool AAA Clip Options?

I have a Drop Aluminum AAA light in black (LMH 219c version of the Lumintop Tool AAA).

It came with a fugly clip-on “silver unfinished” clip, not even a black clip that Lumintop offers. I understand one of it’s features is to flip it around and use on a baseball cap on the fly, something I will never do. To my surprise, it’s actually held on quite well, but I still don’t trust it.

jon_slider’s posts have lead me to the “captive” Foursevens Preon Clip. Good enough for me:

A deep carry clip would be nice, but to be honest I don’t clip them to my pocket, clips for me are just an anti-roll away oh shit I lost my flashlight device.

Though, if I had a deep carry clip, maybe I’d use it…

Just wanted to be sure there aren’t any other *captive *options before I pull the trigger on the rather expensive Preon clip? A black one would be nice.

black lumintop clip

dont know of any black preon clips

Oops, edited original post. I can’t stand non captive clips!

I only know a more expensive option… and I dont think it fits
the darksucks titanium clip

the preon stainless clip is still the best option that I know for sure fits without modification

I figured you’d be the one if any to know of any other compatible clips.

I’ll suck it up and order the Preon clip.

Maybe give the thread 24 hours, but I have a feeling you’re right.

Don’t think I can justify the $35 experiment, unless I know it worked and was a deep carry, and came in black. I guess then it wouldn’t really be an experiment…

I also feel the the standard clips included with the Tool AAA/AA lights is insufficient, so I quickly jettisoned them in favor of the older one-way clips from the Streamlight Stylus Pro / MicroStream, which I have been using on multiple lights for several years. The knurling of the shown lights provides enough of a "captive" hold for me, but on bigger lights (like the discontinued ThruNite T10/Saber models), I use epoxy to keep the clips secure.

FYI, the EDC01 head is from the actual model since I prefer its memory function to the non-memory function of the standard Tool AAA head.

I agree, jon_slider usually has the answer. I have the same clip on my ToolVn Ti.
I really like the look and also don’t use it as a pocket clip but rather for anti-roll.

thanks for posting pics, that creates a nice deep carry solution

Lightfan that indeed does look like a nice deep carry solution, not sure epoxy is for me though. I’m sure it works fine, it would just eat away at me that MAYBE it would come apart, even though if done right I’m sure it wouldn’t. I have problems…

Venice that sure is a purrty light, wish I could get my hands on one of those still. The new blue titanium that Drop sells just doesn’t do it for me.

Looks like the Preon clip is the way to go. For now…

that Ti Tool w one piece head, and rubber tailswitch button, is very rare. You might still be able to get one from skylumen.com, if you are willing to open your wallet… (I have resistance, so I just drool at the pics)

the drop and Lumintop TiTool that uses the flat eSwitch, has a split head, that allows for a deep carry fully captive option:

Thanks, I think Vinh at Sky lumens still has some but they are rather pricey as they are heavily modded and fully programable. He managed to get some of the earlier models (NOS I assume) without the double metals which I prefer.

he sells the unmodded light for $50

select the first box on his list of options:
AAA MLH Last Mode Memory

note the driver has last mode memory…
that is my excuse not to open my wallet

Would have pulled the trigger! But I prefer the e-switch.

Not too worried about memory as I have the driver from my Drop AAA I could have swapped in.

I like knurling, and find it always wears down on aluminum over time, was hoping that the harder titanium would solve that issue. One day… My Drop AAA is still new.

Did they ever make these with plain reflectors? I find the output is too low on these for the orange peel reflectors.

a different reflector wont make the light brighter, you would need a different battery than AAA

it is within normal range for an AAA light to produce about 100 lumens max, for about one hour.

the switches have pros and cons

the eSwitch Tool is not LiIon compatible

the advantage of the mechanical switch Tool, is the switch also works with 10440 LiIon

The Ti Tool Venice has does not use a stock Lumintop driver.
It uses DriverVn,
It can reach hundreds of lumens on LiIon, but it wont run on AAA at all.

Skylumen, aka Vinh, will sell the LiIon driver for $20, the Ti light for $50, and will swap LED for another $50. afaik people can buy any of those services separately

Oh I know I won’t get more lumens with a plain reflector, I just find orange peel often looks less bright to my eye, than a standard reflector, when I’m white wall hunting.

Did not know the eSwitch is not LiIon compatible, but I’m going to stick with LSD NiMh AAAs (eneloops) for my EDC Drop AAA for convenience’s sake. I’m lazy, don’t want to worry about maintaining LiIon cells.

Took my Drop AAA apart for fun earlier, looks like I may have to send it back. Thread to come.

KISS

The Olight i3t 2-way clip does fit on the tool aaa. A little difficult to attach it to the knurled section but allows for deep carry.
