Coronavirus **personal experiences** thread

Booster shots are probably in everyone’s future regardless of which vaccine we get so take what’s available IMO.

Welp got really sick last night with bad aches all over my body and the arm where the shot was administered hurt wayyyyy more than the first shot. Also had chills with terrible headaches. Feeling better right now but I figure it will be another day or so before all the symptoms go away. My mind is a bit foggy but my kids said that’s my normal state :person_facepalming:

had 1st and 2nd vaccine shots = \pfizer\ = no issues other than half a day of sore arm.

I havent heard of any major reactions to Pfizer, seems most are with Moderna (what I had). I will try to avoid it in the future …… if any way possible.

Had my first injection of Pfizer this afternoon. Six hours later have moderate muscle pain in multiple locations. Will take some Tylenol before bedtime.

Any experiences with AstraZeneca vaccine?

It appears we (Germany) have not and won’t have enough mRNA-vaccine this year, at the same time the adenovirus-vaccine isn’t very popular but available. So, there’s a chance for those keen on getting vaccinated but aren’t a member of a high-risk group to get their shots [if the distribution problems in Germany can be solved within the next couple of months].

But does it feel ok? Or is it painful?

About side effects:

thank you for posting the exerpts, very helpful and informative

.

A friend in medical research sent me a link to some encouraging news:
Vaccinated People are less contagious to others:

Israeli studies find Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine reduces transmission

Got my first injection last week (Astra Zeneca); as a healthcare worker (psychiatry hospital);
Get some muscle pain in the night; felt like being ill without symptoms for 1-2 days
My wife get also the first injection (teacher) without complaints;

But I get some reports from colleagues with more severe immune reaction: headache, fever etc, not able to work;

I think you have to calculate with this when getting your vaccination;
It is also reported that the Astra Zeneca vaccine generates a heavier immune reaction by the first injection in contrast to the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine (more reaction by the second injection);

Grüße Jürgen

Had my second Pfizer shot. No particular reaction besides a warm achey spot where the needle went in, for a few days, diminishing over time.

Thank you Jürgen and SubLGT.

In the meantime some countries have stopped giving AZ-vaccine for the moment. Hope the outcome of the ongoing investigation will turn out positively for the vaccine. I’ll be vaccinated not before August, but consider effects due to long term damages caused by chemotherapy several years ago.

But good news is - my mother finally has an appointment next week.

I saw my doctor yesterday, and he told me that because I am disabled (due to mental illness), I am eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

I'll be getting my first Pfizer vaccination shot tomorrow.

I didn't think I would be all that excited to receive the shot, but I am.

So tomorrow, my mom and I will be taking a short trip to Palm Springs for my first shot.

Congrats on getting the shot tomorrow. Hopefully all you will experience is a sore arm that only lasts a day or 2 :slight_smile:

I've never had a negative reaction to a vaccination as an adult, so I'm thinking that I'll be okay.

My 30yr old son who is an ICU nurse in the UK had his first Pfizer jab Jan. 3rd…2 hr. mild fever next day and some tenderness, redness in the area of injection.

Second jab about 55 days later I think…3 hr. mild fever again…almost exactly the same side effects as the first…then none at all.

About a month since I’ve had my 2nd shot. I’ve been thinking more about sneaking out to a watering hole and having a couple beers. Been over a year since I’ve done such a thing. Probably pretty safe if I follow the precautions, huh?

Alcohol kills germs, so… absolutely safe, drink up! :party:

The AstraZeneca ban across Europe has reached Germany, again slowing down vaccination. Lockdowns will continue with no end in sight :weary: .

I heard that the AstraZeneca ban doesn't make a lot of sense.

Extremely few people that received that vaccine developed blood clots, and the benefits of that vaccine far outweigh any risks.

Of course, not all that data is in yet, so things could change.

EDIT:

Apparently less than 40 people out of 17 million developed blood clots.
