[Postponed] Sofirn SP10R - deep red AA/14500 EDC

I just received a Kdlitker P60 host with a 660mn triple P60 drop-in. It has 4 levels (moonlight/very low, low, medium, and high), and a hidden (double-click) 8hz strobe. It’s listed as 800 lumens, and though I have no way to measure sure how accurate it is, the output appears bright enough to be in the neighborhood. 620mn and 730mn are also available, as well as blue, green, and amber. As well as a wide variety of Cree, Nichia, and Luminus white in various tints. KDLITKER Photo Red 660nm

Here’s a vid of the strobe mode in action, compared to the Class 1 amber strobes (same brightness as emergency vehicles, tow trucks, ect.) on my explorer:

As is common with many phone cameras, the night vid is a bit dimmer than in real world. For reference, the porch light is a 60 watt equivalent LED bulb.

Hmm, 8Hz is a bit too fast for what I would like to use it for but thanks for sharing

interested!

my suggestions:
continuous 3 levels (sustainable) + turbo (non-sustainable/too hot)
around 10Hz strobe apparently had best healing effect iirc from the 670nm thread
reasonable runtime and output from 1.2V AA NiMH
prevents draining NiMH below 0.9V either by switching off or first lowering output at 1.0V, then switching off at 0.9V
lockout function, if side switch
maybe also a mode-order-change like C01R has
flood beam like C01R
as always, waterproof (I wash my lights and hands with soap after I was outside / if hands got dirty)

so basically the SP10, in 660nm, with a floody beam and 10Hz strobe

I’ll take 2 more, so 3 in total

any news on this one?

I’d love to get this one after Sofirn finished their SP10S Andruil version!

Interested in two (2).

Thank you.

Interested.
By the way, how about using far red LED (720-740 nm) like Cree XPEBFR ?

Are the 18650 lights going to get an update too?

So it’s august now (where I live), can we please get an update on SP10R?
Kinda want to have that one :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, C01R seems to be unavailable everywhere, is it ever going to return to production?

SP10R is still postponed until further notice. Sofirn has to assess supply and demand for this model and costs are a crucial point, too. SP10R would need a different driver than SP10 Pro due to a different forward voltage of SST-20 DR.

Top priority now is SP10 Pro with LH351D.

C01R is probably discontinued indefinitely for reasons of high material costs and low margin.

wow that strange, i thought C01R is a very popular light? they stop produce it ? :frowning: dont understand high costs for such light ?

sad to hear but thank you very much for the info Lux-Perpetua!
well I can imagine paying more than 8$ for the C01R, 16$ would start to hurt but 12$ would be nice…
we all know these are niche products with limited demand, I’d rather have one than not even if I had to pay a bit more.
this also applies to SP10R, it may very well be a bit more expensive than SP10S (white)!

Maybe you/sofirn could make a poll so BLF agrees on how much more expensive niche products (special emitters, special firmware) are allowed to be at most in %.
I’d add an example for say a 20$ flashlight so it becomes more realistic and a bit of insight into how much more expensive that is for the manufacturer (e.g. additional cost of development time, manufacturing).

Then when a special edition light is requested and comes out they can relate the price to that poll or explain why it has to be more than the percentage in the poll (e.g. difficulties in development, sourcing parts, very limited production runs).

I think that a lot of people here would understand and the transparency would sway more people to judge a product “worth it”, despite higher prices.
It’s also how suppiers for big companies share information with their customers (e.g. in the autmotive parts sector), except we sure aren’t going to pull a “Oy m8, you have to become 5-10% cheaper every year or we’ll stop sourcing from you!” like it’s usually done in that bussiness, despite profit per part already being <0,01$. :person_facepalming:

They should have at least let us know they were going to discontinue it and give us one opportunity to buy them first. I would have ordered half a dozen even at $10 each if I had known they would never be available again.

This. And I would have still bought 2 or 3 if they were 15.

Had I known they were to be discontinued, I would have bought a few more
