BLF LT1 Clip on shade (3D printed) test samples available

I’ll take a set please! PM sent

Hi Sam, I’d be delighted to take a set if you still have one left, thank you for your efforts! PM sent.

Just one set left.

I look forward to getting some feedback on the ones I’m sending out.

Thanks

Very well done with this. :+1: I don’t have an LT1 but it’s a fantastic addition, I wonder if covering the inside surface with some sort of reflective foil/mylar would make any difference, I mean to the light coming from the uncovered bit? you think it would redirect it or nor? probably minimal. Could try it out without any glueing with some flat aluminium cooking foil.

Big_Sam, I would like to try that last set out, if still available. PM sent.

Thanks for the interest, all the sets gone now, several parcels getting posted tomorrow.

All samples posted out, looking forward to the feedback

Sound like a good idea to try.
Some of the ‘wasted’ light should be reflected back through the lamp.

Just found this thread too! nice job on these  if you do produce them, i can add a link update in the main LT1 thread for you if you want. I would have loved to do a test of the samples, but didn’t see your topic until now…

Received mine when I got home from work this evening. I’ve never actually (knowingly) held anything that’s been 3D printed before, first impressions are very good! A lot smoother and stronger than I was expecting. I’ll try and do some testing later when my boys have gone to bed. Thanks Big Sam!

PM sent. Thanks.

I received my set of 3D printed shades from Big_Sam (thanks Sam!) this week and have just tested them out on my current revision Olive Green BLT-LT1…

Here are some photo’s showing fit and function, which seems perfect and the 3D printing, which is of excellent quality! I could see the shades being really handy when using the lantern as a worklamp, just like the other day when I’d got my head stuck in the cupboard under the kitchen sink trying to glue a broken brass handle back onto my stopcock tap/faucet using Super Steel epoxy….

I would definitely love to buy a set if you do end up making more!

Height looks perfect to also use the LT1 with the collapsible silicone bowel DIY shade. :+1:

If you start selling these I’d be interested in one, especially if a reflectored surface improves the product!

Just saw this thread today…I’d be interested in a set if you’re going to make another batch!

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay in getting back in action, feedback I have received is positive so I am happy to produce more for sale.

I will start a thread in the sales section and I will PM anyone who has shown interest.

I have not tried painting one yet, but I will give it a go to see if it reflects any useful light forward.

I’m not trying to make profit with these, just provide a service to the community and cover my printer costs, so probably price at £2 per shade + postage.

Thanks, Sam

Thanks’ for the update, I would be interested in two please let me know when and how to proceed.

Hello Big Sam … congratulations !!! I was also very interested in the two versions. Will it be possible to send to Brazil? One more question: Would you also be able to produce a wider base for LT1 support when you are directly on the ground?

Hello,

Heopfully I have now sent PM to everyone who was interested. I ship worldwide at cost

Yes I was thinking of making a base that connects via the tripod screw and possibly has folding legs also.

I would also like to make a large carry handle and a red 360 shade, the problem is don’t have much free time, but I will try.
