Not a flashlight geek, that's 4 sure!

Hello everybody!

I have a look from time to time on BLF forum, but it’s rare, so nothing serious. Thought would be nice to drop by and say hi anyway.
I’m from Prague, but was born in Poland. But in Prague beer is cheaper, so I moved.

I have only one non-garbage flashlight, good old learn to play (L2P) from Solarforce, so it doesn’t really count, right?
And only 3 more lights are in transit, so it doesn’t count even more, right? Moreover, one is a gift for someone, so not worthy to mention at all.
(Tini2 and Tip SE are so small, that shouldn’t be counted anyway) Right, guys?

So, no flashlight addicted, see? Nothing serious!

Greetings from Prague!

BTW, did you know that guy that invented kerosene lamp, Ignacy Łukasiewicz, was from Poland?
It looked somehow like that: (the lamp, not the guy)

Didn’t have a chance to play with exact type, but heard some feedback.
It had nice pros:

- stepless ramping

- simple UI

- no step down due to temperature

- PWM visible only on bad fuel

- very pleasant, warm and natural tint

- great, precise battery life indicator

- extremely fast recharge rate

- perfect for floodlight

- could be used as a beer mug in emergency situations

- handle stayed cold even on high modes

  • very easy access to turbo

Unfortunately, also some cons:

- not much of a thrower

- a bit inconvenient for EDC

- turbo was one-time use only

- in turbo mode didn’t handle temperature well

  • not very intuitive “click & drop on the floor” to enter turbo mode

I’d recommend

Thats actually a very fine light, maybe i should buy one

Thank you

Favourite flashlight? Ugh, that’s tough question.

I really like idea of Aurora A5x for a keychaine light (with red side LEDs and 219C - rather won’t be a member of XP-G3 fanclub, if something like that exist).
Only concern is LiPo battery. And price. Ok, also micro USB. Well, and not the best spread of modes (1,5min. and you end up in 100 lumens or so from both, high and medium - then medium is not really what it says). But I love overall concept, unfortunately all clones have to small battery IMO.

I like design and look of EDC18 as well. If it only could take something bigger than 18650 (preferable 21700) and had better heat dissipation… Emisar D4SV2 for performance maybe? Sofirn SC31 Pro as EDC? Or SP10S as even more compact EDC? See, you’ve just opened Pandora’s box with that question

Nice mule.

> Emisar D4SV2 for performance maybe?

Yep. Small, elegant, powerful. An artisan light.

Ha Ha Great post . Love the lamp. David

So the choice is beer or a flashlight ?

This will not end well .

Have a nice time here, haze!

Thank you guys!

Just learned that my long-awaited Sofirn IF25A + nice pack of LiIons ended up this way:

“After receiving the Dutch postal notice, the goods are under inspection.
After receiving the Dutch postal notice, the physical object has been seized and destroyed”

Many thanks Dutch people for developing new weapon of mass destruction - the bloody postal notice - but why to test it on my poor lil light? :frowning:

Well…my first parcel was annihilated, so instead of single flashlight with bunch of batteries I’ve ordered 2 sweet minions with shipment from Europe.
Finally my old Solarforce has new friends!

I see now how fast flashlight world is developing, especially in terms of size, power, bells&whistles…

I’ve ordered what was available from Polish warehouse - IF25A SST20 6500k and SC31 Pro SST40 5000k.
My first feelings were, well…mixed. IF25A is unpleasantly greenish in moon and low current modes, but it gets better then. And turbo-wow, just wow. It’s just absurdly powerful in comparison to XM-L in L2P, especially indoors (in fact, I didn’t truly test the lights outdoor yet) - and this light is sooo small.
Below it’s 2nd ramping step for minions and low mode in L2P (light is <800 lumens at max power, low is about 3% of max current)

SC31 is different, tint is nicer, but it has strange yellowish square corners-like parts around hotspot, when looking from very close distance, which mixes into not-so-nice-anymore tint at longer distances. But again-higher modes improves situation a lot.

Turbo on SC31 seems not that different than max celling in stepless ramping, especially on not fully charged battery.
BTW, Sofirn 3000 and 4000 mAh bats were tested with 3400 mAh and 4300 mAh results (0,5A discharge, though) - I think Liitokala Lii-500S likes to add lil bonus here and there.

I’m pretty happy with both lights, moon is so nice in comparison to L2P (lowest mode is way to bright in it), and all the nice futures that makes me to shot with 3000 lumens straight into my eyes from time to time are just purely resplendent. 3 clicks are still bit confusing, with moon selected I often jump between rampings instead of battery check, or just turn on tactical strobe. Or just go into turbo, not max celling. Or make my old dog wandering why is the storm coming in the middle of winter. Doesn’t matter, I love Anduril anyway!

So, that’s the end of the story. 3 lights are enough, right? Noone needs more. Tini2 still doesn’t count, shipped EDC18 is just-in-case-light (cause you never know). I’m still normal, right?

Time for little update.

I enjoy these guys for a month or so now:

(Ordered on Ali, delivered in 3 weeks from China)

Actually, TIP SE is a present for my father in law. I thought about TINI 2 for him as well (ridiculous idea, while handling this light he would be like Shrek putting a bra on Thumbelina), then about TIP2 with magnet and more solid-looking build, but I just can’t stand XP-G3 ugly rainbow on edges.

The final choice was TIP SE and I have to say it’s a really nice light - good quality, useful mode spacing, fits well in the hand, UI is quite easy to get use to but not to simple or limited. Work times are good and I find DEMO mode very useful. In fact, it cane replace locking pretty well - just turn on the light for 30s and if more is needed, simple click power button after it goes off. That switches to DAILY (normal) mode just for this “session” - you can jump between different modes and it stays in DAILY till off. Great for someone scatterbrained, who keeps forgetting about mundane nonsenses like locking things. There’s also no charging port cover, so he can’t lose it

And TINI 2…I absolutely love this light! His name’s Wally and he keeps impressing me with how small and useful is.
This light just disappears in watch pocket and I don’t have to worry about juice left, what mode is on - everything is on screen.
(but @Mocarny overrated its weather forecast services, if you’ve read his review  Updates are not very frequent.)

Have to admin that amount of light from both cute lights is really surprising. Beam pattern and light tint is pleasant as well. One thing I miss is some protection for tir optics, TINI already came to me with small scratch. Also black paint on screws comes off even from looking at it, but who cares.

Power bank still waits for good quality batteries. Clearly showed, that most of my units from dissembled battery packs are useless and are drained e.g. by phone charging in no time. These batteries are dangerous as well - I have few ones that can’t get to 4.1-4.2 V and are charged forever, getting very hot. Easily reaching 70+ degrees C in Liitokala lii-500s and I haven’t noticed charger thermal protection kicking in, same for the power bank.
You know what is safe charging temp. for Li-Ions?

Sofirn minions and Wally have new pet as well - it’s a bunny! EDC18. Wife started to ask questions…
But the more I read BLF, the more I see that I’m perfectly normal, so no worries. Need only some more headlamps, UV, thrower, one or two hi CRI and that’s pretty much all
