LG HG2 18650 Still Okay?

I know there’s lots of newer fancier 18650’s out in the wild these days. Lots of members like Samsung 30Q’s, Panasonic, Vapecell, Shockli etc. From graphs that I looked at, the LG seems to be still up there. Are the LG’s still ok these days?

They’re okay but if 30Qs or VTC6 are available at an equal price, then I’d go with those instead

Okay sounds good. I was wondering because I have 8 of em. I also have 2 30Q’s. I mean how much more in performance compared to the newer batteries? Few more capacity, voltage, etc. Looks like not by a whole lot so I think I’m still good. Ahhhh now I can sleep good knowing I still have powerful batteries! :rage: :smiling_imp:

Yeah, I don’t get why people get worked up about cells that are probably only a few percentage points away from each other in performance. There’s high-drain and high-capacity as far as I’m concerned. Oh, and “disposable” cells like laptop pulls that are still perfectly serviceable in low-stress lights.

Let a “better” cell age after a few cycles, and it’ll probably be beat by a newer but “lesser” cell.

^ Right on

LG HG2 seemed to have disappeared. They were the hottest battery at one time.

I’ve had HG2’s last every bit as long, if not longer than 30Q’s, in vape devices. Last set lasted two years with 700+ charge cycles on them. They are still working two more years later in flashlights. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy more, as long as they are authentic, and can find them.

BTW, that is not LG packaging. Thats 3rd party packaging. As far as I know, no manufacturer packages individual cells like that, other than re-wrap companies like Vapcell, Efest, Orbtronic, Keepower, etc… Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic/Sanyo cells are packaged like this from the factory.

When it comes to battery life-cycle longevity, I rate my LGs considerably higher than my Samsungs, both in INR and ICR categories.

+1

If genuine (many fakes where I live), I consider HG2’s to be a good high drain battery that I wouldn’t hesitate to put in any light I have although I prefer the VCT6A’s that were briefly available here. Although it’s a good battery I’ve always been a little puzzled at many peoples preference for the 30Q.

Not so much a preference (I’ve got 30Qs, HG2s, VTCwhatevers (5/5A/6), etc.), but from what I’ve seen they’re just more common and easier to get.

Also got a lot of Sofirns, Immolates, Nitecores, other come-with cells.
