New Fireflies T1R Mini Thrower-- Release date 25th Jan

I got in contact with Jacky. From what I was able to understand it seems like they had some delays with getting their parts on time for the T1R.

He’s said he’s selling the short tube and 22430 battery only as a set for $25.

How much is the flashlight? What good is the battery n short tube for sale if you don’t have the flashlight.

Fireflies’ new tubes and lights are all compatible with one another so you can mix and match. It’s a shame that the threads are so bad though

I guess that’s why the new E07 has not materialised.

sunny, was there any word on the price of the Flashlight itself? i need to know if i’m considering this one or not… with the kr1 being a nice $55, this one is going to depend on price for me.

unfortunately seems like $98 USD is the new magical number for FireFlies …

No idea. I didn’t ask since I wasn’t interested in it. Send him an email. It seems like some people already got their hands on the T1R

$98 is too high for me, I was interested but looks like the throw is about the same as kr1 which I already have. I do love the new colors though, onboard USB charging is also nice.

Yea I prefer no on board charging just bc I never end up using it and I feel it’s something to go wrong. I know Tom e is having a bad standby drain issue with a new Astrolux that seems to derive from faulty onboard charging circuitry. I’m sure FireFlies using upgraded parts, but still. Paying extra for it… I’d rather save money on the light and charge my own batteries

You kind of need on board charging with how bad these threads are. I worry about stripping the head threads every time I change a battery on my nov-mu and the tail threads are unannodized which makes them grind.

Damn, that scares me. I really have my mind set on buying the e12r, but if that’s the case I don’t want to deal with it. I’ll just go with the rot66 like I had originally wanted. I know it’s pretty different but in some ways it’s the same too. And I like the 3x 18650 battery setup a lot, it’s a nice size for me. Not as nice as (1) 21700, but it is what it is. I’ll just have to buy a k9.3 too lol

I’d say go for the E12R if you have a usb-c charger around. My Nov-mu maintains quite a high brightness relative to even my D18 with its efficient buck driver.

I just keep a 40T permanently in it and it’s really convenient not having to remove the battery to charge it. All you have to do is flip a flat and insert a cable.

The threads on most of these lights are ACME or square cut. You would have to change batteries 1000x of times to wear out the threads. The LEDs or the batteries themselves would wear out before the threads would.

Also with USB charging, you are charging the same battery over and over. Is this something you should be doing?

The tail threads are square cut, thick and unannodized. The head threads are very thin and almost triangular in shape. The head threads are anodized but the annodization on my Nov-mu was wearing out the second time I replaced the battery since the light kept on flickering as I was putting the tube on. I’d rather buy a new battery in a year than break my light accidentally.

Fireflies wanted to send me a sample of their T1R with Osram LED for a review, probably KG CSLPM1.2 or KP CSLPM1.F1.

All communication has suddenly stopped by CNY. I was unsuccessful reaching Jack for the past 6 weeks, sending him several messages.

Following some threads here I see there's still communication with some members. I now gave up trying to reach him. :-(

I lost interest on this light, they don’t seem to care to respond… Their loss!

I just checked out the website and it’s not showing a T1R. What gives?

It’s an EU requirement to put the logos on the outside of the product and visible - at least when it comes to electronics. It’s the the same for phones, tablets, notebooks etc. Can’t hide it really. Don’t know about Fireflies, but many Chinese manufacturers utilize EU warehouses or amazon nowadays, so there isn’t really anything they can do about it if they want to sell their products here.

Hank doesn’t do it because he frankly doesn’t give a F, is a rather small fish in the pond and custom officers don’t open every single box to check a flashlight for compliance, but in theory if any EU country customs would look a bit closer at Hank lights they would have to refuse the import by law.

Flashlights often get a pass, but I know some TLF users had problems importing chargers from China before without proper CE logos which then got refused by customs.

I gave Jacky another call today so I’ll write some of the info I received here. Please note that my mandarin is rather rudimentary at best so I may have gotten some of the translation wrong/misunderstood what he said.

1. The T1R’s release looks like it’ll be delayed until July. This is because they’re having trouble getting the necessary chips for the driver from the US due to the chip shortage.

2. Jacky said the short tube will be available on their website tomorrow ($15) and it’ll come with a clip.

3. Their updated headlamp will be released in May. Jacky mentioned they’ll have an option similar to the Nov-MU with slightly fewer LEDs. My understanding is that it’ll use the new buck driver and there will be a mule option (E21As) available.

4. I mentioned to him that people weren’t so happy about him not answering emails and he said he was sorry and it is because he is very busy away from home for work. He’ll try to answer all emails but replies will be a bit slow.

Thanks for clarifying, good lights are worth the wait. :+1:

I have gotten responses on all 4 of my recent orders from last month, and 2 were for the new e07x. The email tag said it was a guy named Oliver. Considering this is my first time ordering from FireFlies it felt good knowing I had at least an order confirmation.
