this light when it came out i was very uninterested, now i feel compelled to say that it is definitely one of my favorites in xhp50. it is so good , thank you freeme! i will probably be buying a sst40 sand colored one.
used this light again last night. What a great light in xhp50! really is one of the best lights i’ve had from Astrolux! I am tempted to buy another just to have it, same emitter i already have. lol
See, I actually have to say I like the beam pattern a lot. And I am pretty picky about the multi emitter beam pattern. In sst40, I don’t like this light or the ec03 and sold that because of beam.
But in xhp50, maybe because of larger dome or slightly large die surface, I think this lights beam is great.
Either way. I’m a fan.
I’ve been contemplating buying the sst40 version and reflowing osram CULPM1 on it. But the leds cost about $35 for 4… so I don’t know…
I got both the xhp50.2 and the sst40 versions. Just noticed that the 50.2 version has drained a 40t whilst sat on a shelf, whereas the sst40 version still has full charge. That’s annoying. Has anyone else experienced this?
I had the same issue. What you are experiencing is probably because of high parasitic drain (standby current). Parasitic drain measured in my FT02S SST40 5000K was in the range of 30mA to 70mA, which was very high compared to a normal level (1lumen.com review showed 0.13mA). At the rate of parasitic drain, it completely drained fully charged battery in a couple of days.
If you have digital multimeter, I would advise you to measure it and contact Banggood. I filed a complaint with Banggood regarding this matter, and they arranged a replacement head for me.
