Ff light

Haha

And, as much as I love Hanks lights, you are right about that swagger, it finally pulled me in. Aesthetic beauty and performance, I’m not too worried about the complaints I hear. We will see.

I 100% agree. Another reason I praise Hank so much. And Simon. You can literally order any single part that they have from them. I am ordering copper tail caps and titanium 18650 tubes from Hank to customize my existing and new lights. Everything and anything you want. In THIS hobby, that is the way it should be. Period. Or those are the businesses I support at least, no one has to do anything.

I really don’t have an issue with anything you said. You admitted that most of the issues are minor which is true. You can def feel they are a bit more serious than I think they are while knowing the issues are still minor.

As for the threads, I forgot who said it but someone explained that it would take easily thousands of spins to eventually break these threads, or any other really. And if it really was a worry, you can always just on-board charge and replace the battery hardly ever.

All this is reasonable to me, if it isn’t to you, I think that’s def your right. I’d say I have little peeves about every light, but I genuinely feel that’s to be expected with every company having slightly different philosophies.

I won’t defend poor communication. I wish that wasn’t the case as it is with 95% of Chinese companies, but again, that’s par for the course to me. I always get responses from FF, not right away but I always do. I’d say Hank and Simon (Convoy) are the better/best communicators.

Then, how can I not agree with our right to repair. That is pretty important and makes Simon and Hank all the better companies for it.

All that being said, ultimately my position after knowing all this, is that Fireflies is still the best company to buy from for my preferences. Maybe not the best at some other secondary things, but I don’t really expect that to be a need with every light. If it ever became an issue, I’ll have made sure to use PayPal so I’m somewhat protected, it may be a hassle but it will get taken care of.

If I had a perfect Hank light and a perfect Fireflies light, my experience has been that I would much more prefer my Fireflies. They are just unmatched in how lofty their goals are for high CRI lights. In that regard, they are unmatched and that is probably the most important thing to me after making sure I got a working light. I see you got plenty of FF lights so you are entitled to feel how you feel about them. To me, they are seriously just the greatest most envelope-pushing aesthetically beautiful lights on the market and I LOVE them for it. Their clear-ano lights might be my favorite.

Not only are their lights beautiful, but the clear-ano just makes them even more amazing. Actually, I really love the sand E12R color and Matte-sandy feel too.

I am glad to hear it, I ordered to raw aluminum rot66 and sand e12r . I can’t wait.

Question- do you get order confirmation and/or shipping confirmation normally from FireFlies? I’ve read some people do and some don’t. I don’t really care as long as it’s normal. I have not received either after 3 days

I think I have gotten confirmation just once when I bought from the US warehouse. After that, no.

The ROT66 in Clear-ano is flames. It’s one of the best looking lights on the market. It seems retro but spacey/futuristic too. It’s easily the best looking sodacan light yet it’s still pretty tiny and fits perfectly in your hand while giving polished grenade vibes.

ROT66 and E12R are probably my favorite floody lights. (Both Nichia 219B’s). I think you’ll enjoy both of them.

Man, your making me feel good about this decision, i was a little worried taking a shot with a brand i never did business with before. The clear ano and rot66 is was drew me in. Well the E07 did, but they are sold out everywhere in aluminum. (If you know of a place with an aluminum e07, please forward bc id buy one today). I had one ordered with Neal’s Gadgets, but he cancelled it because there was no stock, it was terrible :confounded:

Anyway, i have seen the rot66 around for the last year and never thought twice, and i always wanted the mf01s or d18. And finally it occurred to me that the ROT66 was a great mix of both those lights. I love 3x18650 platform (i had hk04 and it was perfect size), auxiliary led’s of course, and great emitter options. I don’t like 4x18650 too much, so in the last week i became obsessed to get the rot66. The e12r was a last minute choice, i was going to get the k9.3 (i am a noctigon fan of course), but the price of the e12r, the cool look, the driver type, and all the really well thought out features, i went e12r. I am pretty excited now. I also really want this new e07 to come out too though, i really want one. I edc a noctigon KR1 which is almost the same exact size, so i feel the e07 would be a welcome edc.

I made a post here a few weeks ago with the original release dates and stats. ’Course it’s been delayed since then, but there’s some info…

One discovery I’ve made is that the head threads of my Nov-Mu can be screwed in fairly smoothly after a bit of a break in period. I believe this is from the springs compressing a bit from use. It also really helps if you unscrew the tail threads just a bit to give the springs a bit more room to expand.

I gave Jacky another call today so I’ll write some of the info I received here. Please note that my mandarin is rather rudimentary at best so I may have gotten some of the translation wrong/misunderstood what he said.

1. The T1R’s release looks like it’ll be delayed until July. This is because they’re having trouble getting the necessary chips for the driver from the US due to the chip shortage.

2. Jacky said the short tube will be available on their website tomorrow ($15) and it’ll come with a clip.

3. Their updated headlamp will be released in May. Jacky mentioned they’ll have an option similar to the Nov-MU with slightly fewer LEDs. My understanding is that it’ll use the new buck driver and there will be a mule option (E21As) available.

4. I mentioned to him that people weren’t so happy about him not answering emails and he said he was sorry and it is because he is very busy away from home for work. He’ll try to answer all emails but replies will be a bit slow.

Any info about E07X?

We are all in waiting mood

i love you for posting that, and for FireFlies to finally release it! thanks atobe!

+1

i have noticed recently (yesterday) with FF that it is really hard to make a LED decision, and even harder to not just order 2-3 lights :person_facepalming:

The LED decision is made even harder by listing the same option twice as they did in the link supplied by atobe 5 posts above.

SST20 NW 4000K 95CRI or
SST20 NW 4000K 95CRI

I wonder what I`ll get?

Yes, that one got me too. I actually didn’t notice it the first time I looked at it. Because, you know, I opened and closed and walked away and opened the link again about a dozen times before deciding on an emitter I now regret. Ohwell, I feel I would’ve regretted any decision as I ideally would buy three of those lights. . I’ll just have to order another in July

I don’t want to derail the topic but FF did say they were going to make/sell a FF flashing kit like hank. Anyone heard/have updates on it?

Confirmed their sst20 bin is FA4 (low duv, better than high like FB4…)

How does the FA4 bin compare to the SST20s in the MF01S (forgot the bin)? Bought mine when it came out and I’m not really a huge fan of the tint. It isn’t bad but can sometimes look green and is too warm for my liking. If I’m reading the datasheet correctly it seems like the FA4 should be even rosier that the FA3 which itself is meant to be a good tint.
