Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak, Silk Sonic - Leave the Door Open
LIVE from the 63rd GRAMMYs ® 2021

Here's one of the better live performances featured on last night's Grammys. I'm not usually a fan of this sort of "contemporary R&B," but after seeing a good review, I gave this one a whirl. Took a couple of verses, but by the end I was thinkin', "Damn! These guys can sing!" For the record, this appears to be live singing against a prerecorded backing track.

Heart: Crazy on you ’77

Thanks for sharing that! Second piece of vinyl I bought had that song. Thought Nancy was all that and then some back then. Fun to see her solo. Really like her guitar playing.

I saw them back in the 70s. They were second billing with Dave Mason being first but they stole the show.

There’s nothing more ridiculous than watching a movie or tv show and hearing a red-tailed hawk call dubbed into the soundtrack while a bald or golden eagle is shown on the screen. Many directors and producers apparently think a eagle call is not impressive enough. It’s amazing how many times I’ve encountered this in movies and television.

Anyhow, red-tailed hawks are impressive for a number of reasons - the talon-grasping display, their adaptability to human-altered habitats, and their intelligence, as well as their vocalizations. I was helping out at a banding station on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay (years ago) and had a red-tailed hawk sneak up on a lure bird stationed on the side of the blind. The hawk came from the woods behind the blind, and it walked from the woods to the starling, so it was less visible to us. I caught sight of the attacker before it could kill the little starling, but it was a close call.

We have a red-tailed hawk on and off. When they are here I am alerted by the silence! The song birds don’t make a peep.
