Have the battery prices in retail store increased recently?

A lot of batteries in China, the price goes up wildly

Don’t know what’s going on in your country

Prices in the EU still seem normal, e.g. Samsung 30T for EUR 3.75 (USD 4.47).

I suppose high demand and shortages in semiconductor components have now reached battery suppliers as well. Every notebook and every electrically driven car needs lithium ion batteries. The pandemic has caused an extreme demand in notebooks for homeoffice use. Tesla builds a huge factory nearby my home, with big plans to produce several thousand e-cars per month.

Prices from the places I normally go to order cells haven’t changed.

However all the usual places I use to get cells are all out of stock, I got an email from one of the stores explaining that they were seeing a big shortage in li-ion cells.

Thank you for your information

30t is still in stable supply, such as 25R, 40t, vtc6, 30q, Hg2, 29e, 35e, 50g, etc. most of them are out of stock, and the price is rising in china

I am borrowing this image from PhotonPhreaks (aka Ozythemandias), about an announcement from NKON:

Lithium Ion batteries are the new toilet paper, go get them while supply lasts!!! :-D

I noticed NKON has increased the price for Samsung 40T from € 5.45 to € 7.75 this morning. 30T still available for € 3.75 and Molicel P42 inbound by the end of March for € 5.75, so probably at bargain price for a few days (hours?).

There are a few “trusted” ebay sellers in Australia. Their prices have remained the same. With free shipping, it puts their prices on par with other sites like illumn.

E.g. AU$8 for 30Q with free shipping.

Local retail stores (Vape stores) sell 30Q for about AU$12 to AU$15. If you want it delivered, it’s about AU$8 for shipping.

Germany‘s retailer „Akkuteile“ seems looted already. Most items sold out. I wonder how long it will take until the bottleneck is resolved. Prices for computers, webcams, headsets or digital cameras have significantly increased, too.

Malicious tongues say these signs are harbingers of an upcoming hyperinflation - globally.

Small addition: NKON also sells refurbished (rewrapped and tested) 40T’s from battery pulls.
Never been used but rejected because of bad spotwelding etc. For €4.95 a pop.
In case of emergency I can buy them from my nearest (brick and mortar) vapeshop for €12.50.

I was tempted to order some of these „refurbished“ (actually new) battery pulls. But I am afraid the residual material left from spot welding could somehow damage springs in my flashlights. It probably takes some efforts to remove these welding marks.
