A short update ā¦. I havent seen any improvement in a couple of months. Seems I am a ālong haulerā and may not get any better . Still suffering extreme exhaustion, muscle soreness and a constant case of brain fog, My walking and breathing have gotten better but Ive been doing breathing exercises 3 times a day and I can tell that helped. I think I am having more trouble than most because of the severity of my case. Apparently the longer you are intubated the more long term effects you suffer. From what I understand a lot of intubated patients dont survive more than a week. I was intubated 3 weeks. Had a ābelieverā tell me god had a plan for meā¦ā¦ all I could think to say was I wish he had started a little earlier ā¦ā¦. BUT ā¦ā¦ā¦ its good to be on this side of the dirt and life is goodā¦ considering. Just a lot of Tv, āmedicineā and
I am so saddened to hear of your very slow progress, Hang in there. and thank you for taking the time and energy to drop by and relate whatās happening.
So sorry to hear that itās still a battle for you, Coscar. From what Iāve read, you are indeed one of the fortunate ones coming off the intubator alive after such a long time. I wish our friend John Prine had fared as well. Keep up the good fight, I look forward to hearing from you.
Finally got this about 12 days ago, and today I can say itās over. One of the easiest fluās I ever had.
I got it from my mom, and she is over it too.
And I suspect she got it from a member of our family that is a heavy smoker (2 packs/day). He almost has no symptoms except for some slight coughs. Basically his lungs are pretty much &^$@ because of smoking, and there you go- he handled covid even better than we non-smokers did !
Did āregularā flus go extinct or something with all the masking and stuff?
Iām wondering if anyone can get a regular flu like was going around forever, and then be all like, āI survived the coroflu and all I got was this lousy teeshirtā, like itās no big deal. (Which, like 2yrs ago, it wasnāt.)
It was first noted in Australia last year that they were not having the usual flu season. That repeated here through our winter. Masks, washing and distancing do work.
May I ask if you have been vaccinated already? I have read somewhere that some persons who had the virus before and still suffering from lingering symptoms long after they tested free of the virus yet had the vaccine suddenly felt MUCH better after vaccination. Doctors have theorized that the vaccine might have substantially āre-invigoratedā their natural antibodies developed after Covid with the vaccine antibodies. Also it was reported that they would only need one jab only.
@ tatasalā¦ā¦ Yeah, I had my 2nd Moderna jab over a month ago. I have seen no improvement since the vaccine. All my doctors were genuinely surprised that I survived at all considering everything. Im not much for going to doctors and when I did finally go my O2 level was at 53. They say I may have suffered brain damage. I suspect waiting as long as I did to go to the doc had a lot to do with my lingering and possibly permanent symptoms I am having to āget used toā.
I am unable to feel I got a bad draw in ANY case. I know I am very lucky.
It's good to see that so many here are getting their vaccinations.
I got my second dose on Sat. There is just one hospital running the vaccinations in the majority of this county and they are very efficient once you can get on their list. Both times I went I had my shot within 10 minutes of walking through the door. They only do it 2-3 times a week but give around 1500 doses a day. It is just incredible how fast and smooth they get people through. Far better than I could have ever expected.
Like many others. First dose - smooth. Second dose - fever, not feeling well the next 2 days. Not a bad tradeoff for the good it may do.
More important than masks and lockdowns is common sense. Stay at home if youāre coughing or even have fever. Too may people ignored this and this has changed now.
Imo, most other measures have an effect, but itās rather small.
Not infecting others is a good thing. Says someone who developed cancer from EBV and dislike the idea of heard immunity. Doesnāt really matter if flue or corona.
Edit: BTW, Iām vaccinated for the flue. Saves lifes.
