What knife did you get today?

Got a green CJRB Briar today. It gets less attention than the other CJRB knives but for me it is by far the best looking one of the series sofar.

It is bigger than I thought and that makes it a bit too intimidating to carry around as an EDC knife, and even when camping I would hesitate to use it when there is other people around. Still I love the size it has, it feels good in the hand and gives the impression that it can handle tough jobs.

1 Thank

I finished my own knife today. Not too shabby for my first puukko.

I bought the steel, so technically you can’t sue me over posting here

Nice job Robin!

Thanks Djozz! Btw I do like the slim profile of the CJRB Briar you bought, it just screams sharp

Tops Fieldcraft 154CM and it’s gorgeous, it’s what I’d call my first proper blade.

Looks nice!

I got my first proper blade in 2008.

Before then, I bought very small junk knives on eBay for just a few dollars a piece.

What was your ‘first’ Raccoon?

A Kershaw Mini Cyclone 1635.

It has been discontinued for a while now so they're tough to find anymore.

Sanrenmu/Land 913 stonewash /w blue accents

This is my first ever knife with ball bearings, loved it out of the box. very smooth, did an initial cleaning and it is even better now.
I highly recommend owning this knife, it comes razor sharp, nothing to improve atm. The weight is far better than expected.

(The opinel was just for opening the package)

If anyone is interested, the knife can be purchased on Aliexpress here:

I think only the metal scales have a frame lock, so please PM the seller or ask other users here before purchasing.

I like the design and the size (a bit on the big side though) but I didn’t like the weight.

30g less is feeling like a different knife to me

The steel front scale is for reference only, I shouldn’t have put it on the picture.

Done another one, too (and gifted it away), I’m wondering why SRM isn’t doing sprint runs like this:

While I don’t love that the design is copied without permission, these are excellent knives at an exceptional value. I have one in G-10 with 12C27. I’ve subjected it to hard use. Sparing any praise that belongs with the original design, fit and finish is on par with knives that cost more than twice as much. The action is very good. Edge retention suggests a decent heat treatment. This knife can easily cut circles around similarly priced knives in 8Cr13Mov.

While this model is reliable and fairly durable, I did end up damaging mine. The clip uses a single screw to attach into a recessed portion of the G-10. I caught it on something hard and bent the clip sideways. It took a chip out of the sidewall of the recess. It still works and keeping the screw tight helps but it can get pushed in that direction with enough force.

Sanrenmu 9201. Rather than build a collection I tried to just get one good knife if possible. Canadian Cutting Edge had this in a top knives of 2020 video.

Technically this isn’t my first knife purchase as I bundled a cheap stainless steel Xanes knife with a Banggood order several months ago.

I was disappointed with a crappy machette that I bought some time ago…

so I got myself the real deal… Tramontina :+1:

Got my SOG today what a knife back in love with SOG after all these years looks like they are making good stuff again.

The micarta on the handle is the best I have ever seen or felt in any knife. It will darken with the oils from my skin.
The action is out of this world never had a knife so lose and smooth with no play in it. It is by far the best fidget knife I have ever owned.

!!

I would be unhappy with a Swiss Army Knife as a machete too…

I’ve got that exact model, although I’ve never had to use it, apart from practicing my Kung-Fu moves in front of the mirror.

Chris

I have used it few hours already, the edge on mine was well done, the grind was even. Edge is easy to maintain with a carbide sharpener, even when I made a tiny dent hitting a rock :stuck_out_tongue:

Received my 6th SAK today, a Victorinox Climber. One of the few pocketknives you can still carry in almost every country without potential problems.

I use these smaller SAK’s as openers mainly while camping or traveling, I’ve been using a Spartan for years but wanted one with a pair of scissors.

Today I got the highly rated ZT 0707 Aliexpress Special Edition

If you gave me this knife without me handling a real 0707 before, I would have absolutely no doubt about it being a real ZT. The machining, finishing, laser etching, chamfering are just perfect, the frame is actual titanium and the framelock insert fits better than my microtech socom elite. The carbon fiber has great finish and they didn’t use run of the mill twill pattern CF, but a quite unique one that I haven’t seen before, almost like interlocking S shapes. They even added a fake screw where the double detent system used to hold.

After adjusting the lockbar strength it deploys and closes marvelously and because the AE special edition 0707 doesn’t come with the fancy dual detent ball system it drops shut like a regular framelock knife, which is why I’m already bleeding at the back of my thumb.

Maybe the only give away apart from the lack of dual detent system is the pocket clip which is sharper at the edges compared to the original.

Even the weight is spot on. The way they manage to cram this much quality into a knife and have it shipped for $50 is simply mind blowing.
